I go fishing almost every weekend in either West Palm Beach, the Keys, or the 10,000 islands. This past weekend the buddy I always fish with and I were in our favorite spot in West Palm. The spot is a large flats-like inlet. The conditions were perfect and the bait fish were running all over the place. The bait fish we netted were a little too large so we went with spoons instead. Once we found where the fish were feeding we landed 3 nice Snook and a Jack in about 20 - 30 minutes. Only one Snook was mine but it was the largest Snook I've ever caught and the 2nd largest fish I've ever caught. It was approximaely 28-30 inches and about 20 pounds. I was of course giddy as hell for the rest of the weekend. I took a couple of pictures and will add them to this post when I get a chance.

Sounds great gators. We have a house (ocean-side) in Key Largo where I go frequently to do some deep fishing (got a 45' Rampage in the Keys and a 620 Ferretti at Dinner Key Marina in Coco Grove). A family member has a smaller flats boat (that's fast as hell - 75 mph in 2 feet of water still gives me a grin) that we take out to do some back-water fishing occasionally. Nothing like having some fun catching those snook, redfish, spottails, jewfish, etc. Those spoons you were using work GREAT on the spanish mackeral when they're running too.

I've hung out a little up in the 10k isles area too, though it's a little too far north for my tastes - and I prefer ocean as opposed to gulf fishing. That's up in RWW territory for sure - but, hell, at least you have Sanibel and Captiva to relax at afterwards. But, fishing is still fishing and I love it no matter where, when or how.

The snook sounds great btw...looking forward to the photos!

Sounds like an awesome catch Gator.
I used to go fishing in N.Y. out in Mattituck Long Island mainly for Porgies but down here in South Florida is a totally different story.
There is no comparison with the fish you catch down here especially offshore.

So when you taking me fishing?

Hmm....you may have a good idea there Duane. Do I smell a fishing trip herf?

I live in Miami and it sounds like MiamiCubano lives pretty damn close to me if he's in the South Miami Beach area. It only takes about 30 - 40 minutes to get from my place to Key Largo and about another hour to hour and a half to get to Islamorada. My friend and I drive down to the Keys for a weekend of fishing a handful of times a year and another handful of just day trips when we're pressed for time. We usually get a hotel room and rent a boat at Bud-N-Mary's marina. It would probably be a lot of fun to get a group of people together and head down to the Keys for a fishing trip and cigars of course. Since there are apparently at least a couple of us in South Florida and probably a few others throughout Florida and neighboring states that like to fish I'm sure we could get something together if there's interest.

So what do you guys think?
Maybe this should be another thread.

Hey again Gator. Yep, I live right on South Beach - we have a penthouse in one of those many high-rises we're famous for. We get to the Keys about every weekend, so I'm always up for more joining us fishing. As I said, we have a house that is on the ocean-side of Key Largo that is big enough to house, feed and care for a small army (and has a large jacuzzi as well), and a 45 footer that's always ready to go snatch up all the dolphin, grouper, kingfish, hog-snapper or whatever else we can set our hooks in. If Key Largo is too far, we also have a nice "little boat" docked down at Dinner Key Marina.

A fishing herf....sounds quite good. :D

We should definitely get together for some fishing sometime MiamiCubano

As far as an actual herf is concerned, the next four or five weeks are a little busy for me (of course I'll still find time to fish nearly every weekend) but after that I'm free to do whatever I want for about 2 months. Can't beat a teacher's schedule :D

I'm not sure when I'd be able to get down there. My boat should be out the shop soon so if any of you come over here holla at me!

Sounds like a great snook you caught. Love the action you had. I fish with guide Bouncer Smith from time to time. I was at Boca Inlet this past Sunday and the water was real choppy.

I would love to join in a fishing expedition. I have a fishing buddy and am confident he would join in.

That looks like a great day of fishing! You don't even need the quarter next to them to tell how big those are! I just got back from 4 days fishing on the north side of the continent. One of those Canadian fly in trips. The largest fish was a 35' northern but nothing like those on the dock.
