great story.

I love dog, I haven't had any since the last time I was in the PI.

Sad story, I don't have a bias towards any particular breed, I just feel that idiots shouldn't be allowed to own pit bulls. They're great dogs, but not for beginners or people who don't care enough to train a dog well. I see all these college kids getting pulled around by pit bulls all the time...the owners need to get a clue or just put them down.

In my trip to Buenos Aires there are so many "pit bulls" - of course I use this to describe Staffordshire terriers (their true name) and other "aggressive" dogs. And they are incredibly well trained - show no aggressiveness towards other dogs / people.

The problem (in America) is that a lot of owners of pit bulls (and many other dogs) are just terrible terrible owners. They want a friend, not a dog/pet. They don't take the time to make it an obedient dog and its infuriating because laws are being enacted to outlaw some wonderful breeds. Anyway, I am one to think there are no bad dogs, only bad owners.

And I don't want to limit this to just specific breeds. MOST small dogs are the worst trained because their owners think that because they're small they don't need to be trained. So when I go to a friend's parents house, I have these mini-poodles nipping at my feet the entire time...

I don't like ranting here on CP because I don't want to be seen divisive in anyway, but I had to now.

P.S: There's a special on PBS (WTEH - see if you can get it on HD) - "DOGS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD" - try to DVR it. I did and watched the first few minutes and it seems incredibly interesting. I'm definitely watching it this weekend.
