CPers,

Regardless of your political affiliation..............

Regardless of your stance on our troops in Iraq..............

Regardless of any preconceived notions.............

Nick Berg, a small business owner from Pennsylvania, did not deserve the cruel, heartless, and absolute barbaric death he suffered.........

I watched the video :0 ..........I have seen what happens to the human body when it battles trains, moving vehicles, heavy equipment, fire, chemical exposure, radiation exposure, machinery, you name it, I've seen it.........I am sickened by the beheading. This is not a motorist in a freak accident, this is not a criminal getting his justice, this is not an animal being put down..........This is a human being (American or not) that was simply trying to make a difference in the world.

He is of Jewish decent. He was an American citizen. He was an everyday Joe that went to Iraq to repair anteneas.........No human being of any origin, belief, or political affiliation should be subjected to the horrific end he was. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and soul. I pray he came to terms with his maker. I also pray that all those affiliated with his death suffer the same barbaric treatment.

I'm really not sure how to continue on with my life anymore. I am a Christian, a football coach, a teacher, a father, and a husband.......This video, and this display of utter calousness toward humanity, shakes my very soul. I am stunned and numbed. I've always tried to view America's adversaries objectively......I've made it a point to break from an ugly family tradition of biggotry, racism, discrimination, and hatred........but this.......this is something different. These barbarians are not a certain culture, they are not a certain race.......they are not a different religion with different beliefs..........these 'people' are a different thing altogether.

Things have changed........SERIOUSLY changed. There is no honor in this.....There is no victory in this.......There is no message........It is just plain evil.

This is not a political statement of any kind........it is simply one man's soul and mind searching for a reason...........

I've never been so moved by strangers...........Nick Berg moves me to make my relationship with my God even stronger............and the evil represented in that video moves me to equip myself, mentally, physically, and spiritually, for the relentless darkness that plagues this world.

The cigars, football, jokes, beers, and niceties I try and enjoy seem trivial in comparison.

Amen. This incident chilled me to the bone. As bad as things can get in the homeland, its never that bad. God bless America.

This is very disturbing indeed. I would hope that it strengthens peoples' resolve to rid our civilization of these types of barbaric people. Not to take away from what happened to Mr. Berg, but these types of things happen right here in our own country, perpetrated by our own citizens. Murders, rapes, molestation of innocent children. The reason I bring all of this up is because I've decided that I would raise my kids the best I could, and help others near me as much as I can (I've done alot of volunteer mentoring to trouble teens). I, as one person, can't solve all the problems of the world. I've learned, however, that if each person does their best to better their little slice of Earth, things can change. Even if it's only a little. There is little we sitting here can do for people in that part of the world (unless you join the military, I did 10 years, that's enough for me) but if you do something positive where you can and teach others to do the same....well things will get better.

sorry for the rant, and I hope I didn't offend anyone, but don't lose hope!

My sincere sympathy to Nick Berg and his family. This man wasn’t a soldier, just a civilian contractor. We need to remember that these people would do this to anyone American. You, your wife, your children, your family. If you believe in the reasons as to why we are over there doesn't matter. We are at war, and the enemy will bring it to our doorstep again if given the chance.

Well put, Wascal... well put. This is how I've felt since the beginning... and continue to do so, regardless of what opposition may say. God bless the soldiers who fight for our way of life.

I won't post it here, but if anyone wants a link to the video and translation of what they were saying, let me know.

It's very gruesome. They essentially rambled on for a while, then jumped on him, held him down, shouting "allah is great" and proceeded to saw his head off. They didn't chop it off, they literally carved it, while he was still alive, screaming... and then held the head up to the camera, shouting "allah is great"

They actually showed most of the beheading on a Greek international channel from Dish Network.
Sick MOTHER FU$%^S !!!!!!
And our soldiers are going to trial for sodomizing the freakin Iraqi prisoners.
Go figure.

no disrespect meant to you gkpk, but our soldiers should be punished for the crimes they committed. They train us from the beginning that prisoners are to be treated humanely and in accordance with the Geneva conventions. There is absolutely no excuse for their behavior. Each soldier also has a duty to disobey illegal orders from superiors, thereby removing the argument that they were doing as they were told. OK, I don't want to go on and on here, that just hit a nerve. Just because they act like animals does not give us the right too. We're better than that.

Those 'soldiers' that got out of line with the Iraqi prisoners should be punished. They desereve what they have coming. They selfishly jeopardized the mission and have brought shame and disgrace to the uniform they wear and what it represents. But in no way are the actions of those malcontents and the barbaric murder of a civilian by supposed 'holy warriors' related. These events are polar opposites in my opinion. And to keep hearing the media and politicians trying to link the two as cause and affect. Such blatant BS.

IMHO the terrorists who committed murder have just helped the cause of the adminstration and negated a lot of the impact concerning what US MP's did with women's underwear etc., no matter how innapropriate. It may have the opposite effect that the murderers wished.

Unfortunately, I have seen a lot of gruesome sites (20+ years working in medicine) Anything I've witnessed has been due to accidents or illness. NOTHING I've ever seen could even remotely compare to the barbaric murder of Mr. Berg. I don't want to view the video. The picture of that poor guy sitting in front of his executioner is disturbing enough. My heart goes out to his family who has been forced to share their horror and grief with the world. I can only hope that this action will show how the terrorists think. The hatred of all who don't think as they do & their callous disregard for life.
I can't say I feel better, but I at least got to get some of this off my chest.

Aloha,
Bill

Nick Berg owned a tower climbing business. I had the privilege of working with him briefly on a project when I was working in DC. He was a pro, and a very nice guy. Very sad news, and a tragic loss. It is beyond comprehension and words.

Before I address the quoted lines above, let me say that I hope some good will come out of this tragedy.

America quite quickly forgot what happened 2 1/2 years ago. It amazes me how fast most Americans have blinded themselves, again, with the veil of Freedom. Hopefully this will pull that veil off some eyes.

Now, brother, to address your statements above - one man to another man and one Christian to another Christian:

Stop searching for the reason this atrocity occured. You already know why it happened - as you said, it's purely evil. Evil was the deed and evil was the cause. As a Christian, you know where evil comes from. This should strengthen your resolve and faith because these villians acted out in the name of their "god." No person that knows the true God could do such a thing.

Please be careful in "wishing" the same barbaric treatment to the criminals. Keep in mind that the reason America is leading the charge in this war is because we do have higher standards than the terrorists and that is evidenced by our call for justice and not for "like revenge."

People laugh at me for saying this, but with all the resolve available to man, I say the fate of the world rests in the outcome of America's current war on terrorism. I pray that we are led through this by God.

Equip yourself by all means, but do it with honor, truth, faith, and the Word. And let your righteous anger and faithful sadness serve teach your students, children and charges the truth in this day and age and the truth about this war on terrorism.

Maybe that's the only good that will come of this.

Havent seen it and dont want to see it. Ive had enough gruesome images from what idiots untrained in pyrotechics have done to themselves and the horror of doing something like this to another human being is beyond words.

I have seen the video..I am prior military (LT USN) served in Desert Storm/Shield w/A-6 squadron. We killed from the air, it bothered me...When I came home, I was truly greatful that I was not a foot soldier. The person or person's responsible for the prison issues should face the appropriate justice for the thier own actions if they are found guilty.

War is not an arena to conduct a free-for-all on anyone or anything, there are rules which we are governed by (not everyone plays by the same rules). In every war we have been involved in the adverse parties have always conducted some sort of inapropriate conduct against our soldiers. This does not however condone us to lower ourselves to thier standards.

We need to set the example for others to follow.

With respect to the video...it is brutal and vile...these individuals "feel" it was appropriate, however misguided they are. The rest of the Muslim population does not condone it, nor does the rest of the "civilized" world. My heart goes out to the family of Mr. Berg.

These are the realities of being in a 3rd world country with what currently amounts to a lawless speck of land. Somalia was the sameway, Afghanistan recently had 2 tourists stoned to death...The Phillipines we lost a few Americans to kidnapping & beheading...it goes on and on...

I am appalled at the brutality depicted in the video....will it stop..no it won't because these people do not see things our way.

My personal opinion is to make new beach front property out of the "entire" area or just pull out of the region and let them have that pile of dirt and eachother.

I apologize for the rambling and no offense is meant to anyone..just my view of the situation.

I totally understand were your coming from brotha but after the tragedy that 9/11 burned into the back of all American's minds i feel the soldiers although wrong in their actions felt the need to reciprocate.
Not that it was the correct thing to do but rather felt they had to do something to get the anger "off their chest" if you will.

I'm glad you didn't see my post as any sort of attack, and while I can maybe understand why our own committed these crimes, I know we're in agreement that they should (and will) be punished. *sigh* these are very troubling times, aren't they brother? I shake in my boots for our children and what they'll grow up seeing.

I've met alot of Arabs. I've learned not only their language, but their culture and their beliefs. They are good people. I find myself very torn over what I think we should do. Some of my favorite language instructors were native Iraqis. Out of ALL the instructors I had in 10 years I can honestly say the Iraqi teachers were the kindest, most giving, and just damn good people. It is so unfortunate that these few misguided scum can ruin what the majority of peace and freedom loving Arabs believe in and desire. Their God is not at all unlike our own. There are alot of similarities in our religions (I was raised and live as a Lutheran myself). They can claim all they want in the name of Allah, but I believe they'll burn in hell as He turns them away from the Heavens when they meet their demise. Like it's been said many times before (paraphrased here, I hope you all have heard this quote) "they will face judgement by their God, it's our job to make that meeting happen".

The Iraqi Prisoners were just that, PRISONERS. Anyways, I'm not going to get into any of that. I saw the video, and it was shocking. Those people have absolutely no regard for human life. Because the Iraqi PRISONERS were roughed up a little gives absolutely NO reason for what happened to the American hostage.

I believe it's important for those who have not seen the video to actually see it. Why? Because it will give you a whole new perspective on whats going on and the type of people OUR American Soldiers have to deal with everyday. Americans have a short memory. I'm not trying to start a flame war nor do I want to get into a whole political debate, but when I saw this video, it really disgusted me.

If you wish to see the video, email me (rod@actionmedia.net) and I'll send the link. I'm hosting the unedited version on my server for those who wish to view it. It's extremely graphical and I urge you not to watch it if you have a weak stomach. The US government is trying to cover the video up, however I believe that is wrong. Americans need to know what's going on.

Rod
