Gruesome video

Rod said:
It's extremely graphical and I urge you not to watch it if you have a weak stomach. The US government is trying to cover the video up, however I believe that is wrong. Americans need to know what's going on.
Let me echo Rod's sentiments...

While I have not seen this specific video, I saw a video of a beheding in Bosnia. NOTHING you've seen to this point will prepare you for the video. Despite being accustomed to (and desensitized by) several gruesome sights, I was troubled for several days by the beheading I witnessed. Over two years later, it still gives me pause when I think about it.

Do not watch this if you are sensitive or squeamish. Do not feel you need to watch this to "be in" in any discussions or groups. You can still feel bad, angry, upset, etc by knowing it happened without seeing it first hand. This live beheading has the potential to change you for the rest of your life.

Thanks Rod for the link. Took a long time for me to download it since I am on copper bound telegraph lines.

Anyway It didn't effect me like I thought. What does that mean? I must be too analytical. Terrible occurance but I found myself more interested in the body language of the terrorist members. Not as graphical as I had expected but still not for everyone.
......................................................................
Edit: It is now the next morning. A terrible event. I am still concerned about my reaction to the video and that I was apparently dissensatized to a certain degree. The talk shows are discussiong this morning how the press has all but forgotten the incident purpously or not.

Seems the US population so quickly forgets major events like 911, etc.
Anyone else notice the flags are no longer out?

Same here GP. I viewed it first to witness it. Then my analytical mind started working and I must have replayed each and every second about 50 times.

With the poor quality, and the sound and video being off kilter, it's difficult to get a read on the attitudes of the terrorists. The one doing the holding seems fairly indifferent, and the one doing the deed seems engrossed in it. I can only make out 1 or 2 voices celebrating so that leaves the 5th one. No pictures and no discerning voice to pick out........WHY? Maybe the leader? Maybe an observer from another group? Maybe someone we already have a work up on? This is what the analysts at NSA, CIA, and FBI must be trying to figure out.

Look also at the dress of the 5. There is a distinct difference in each of their 'uniforms' I need to look at it again, but it appears one is wearing sneakers.....These little things are the little bits of information that is gong to lead us to finding reasons, identities and eventually lead to their demise.

Regardless, very gruesome and appalling.

Now, brother, to address your statements above - one man to another man and one Christian to another Christian:
Muley.........you are so correct. It is hard to stay the course during times such as these. Thank you for the rebuke. We must follow the example demonstrated by Christ.....Justice is His job not mine.

And thank the Lord for that - in the end, we'll all get what we deserve...

Agreed, Americans do have a short memory, which is all too sad. I'm tired of reminding people why we are there and that terrorism is real. Terrorists are not human, they don't even rate as animals.

His was a sacrifice to help the good Iraqi people that will not be forgotten, and only goes to prove that we should stay until the job is done and in turn deploy where Terrorist are are being trained and protected. It is a war people, and it is not finished until the enemy is eliminated or submits to unconditional surrender, and we all know the chances of that.

I topped this post because I hope everyone understands what our fine Men & Women in the military do for us here at home. Regardless of personal political views, they risk the most precious thing they have to defeat the evils of this world.

We all know that politicians are not the purist of people and send our brothers & sisters (moms & dads, sons & daughters) to war for unscrupulous reasons at times but historically our country (the US) fight for the just and righteous cause.

For those who haven't seen this video, you certainly should so you understand why our troops are there and why there is a need for them to be there. I know there are some CPers from other countries and I urge them to see it as well in hopes that they understand also.

I am extremely thankful I was born in this country and even more thankful for the great service our men & women of the military give to it.

I've not seen this video, but I did see the beheading of Dan Pearl in Afghanistan by the Al Qaida. That was a 20 minute ordeal as they used somehting akin to a commercial "Rambo" knife to saw through his neck and cervical spine. Also, similar to the descriptions above, they shouted "Allah is great" and held the severed head to the camera upon completion.

This type of thing is a main reason why I continue to serve and feel I am doing the right thing, regardless of popular opinion. My only wish is that all Americans, regardless of their feelings regarding our current war, will support the troops and civilians that strive to improve life everywhere, including Iraq.

Let me start by saying that I have not seen the video...and though there is a part of me that wants to see it, another part doesn't...Daniel Pearl was enough for me. I am sickened by the wickedness in the world. Just tonight 6 people were shot to death in their homes in Ohio...People get raped and murdered and abused everyday. It is a shame that it takes such a graphic video to remind us of just eveil the hearts of men can become. I pray for this mans family, it's true...but more so, I pray for a world gone so wrong.
