Habanos Lottery, Texas-Style
I just wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in a Cigar Lotto that Jim (mrjinglesusa) and I am trying to get started. I have dubbed it the Habanos Lottery, Texas-Style. Here is what I have in mind:
1. Since I am originally from Texas, the Habanos Lottery, Texas Style will be based on the Texas Lotto. There will be a monthly drawing for the Habanos Lottery based on the Texas Lotto drawing on the 3rd Saturday night of each month. The Bonus Ball number (between 1 and 44) will be used for the purpose of our lotto.
2. Each participant will be assigned a number between 1 and 44 on a monthly basis. We will be using a random sequence generator that can be found at the following site: http://www.random.org/sform.html
3. Random numbers will be assigned versus choosing numbers for a couple of reasons: 1) prevents participants from choosing the same number, 2) prevents any collusion or perception of collusion, and 3) allows me and Jim (mrjinglesusa) to participate AND administer the lotto.
4. Random numbers will be assigned based on longevity at CigarPass. That is, the person with the lowest member number will be assigned the first randomly generated number, the second lowest the next number, and so on.
5. Numbers will be assigned Monthly on the first Monday of each month and will be posted on the website (yes, there will be a separate website for this lottery) for everyone to see. Your number will change monthly, based on the random sequence generator.
6. Price of participation is three (3) Habanos per month. Cigars must be from a verifiable source and must be Totalemente Hecho a Mano…no machine mades or hand-finished cigars.
7. A list of cigars that is to be offered for participation should be PM’ed or emailed to me (cigardawg@gmail.com) no later than the first Friday of the month. We will post them on the website so that everyone can see what is up for grabs that month. You don’t have to send them out until someone wins, but you must provide the cigars that you said you would.
8. Cigars should be sent out to the winner within 5 calendar days of the winning drawing. Late sends should be cleared in advance. Long tardies or failure to send a committment will be grounds for exclusion from the lotto. I have little tolerance for this.
9. If there is not a winner (i.e., if we do not have 44 participants), the cigars carry over to the next month. In other words, the cigars you said you were going to send that month are still in play and you must submit another three cigars for the next drawing. Example: In Month 1, you submit 3 Bolivar Petit Coronas. No one wins that month. For Month 2, you submit 3 Monte #2s. If someone wins in Month 2, you owe them 3 Bolivar Petit Coronas (from Month 1) and 3 Monte #2s (from Month 2). If no one wins until the 5th month, you would send out 15 sticks (five from each month 1-5).
I have tried to make the rules as clear and as easy as possible. Don't want this to be complicated. However, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The first 41 CP members that PM me are in (there are already 3 slots reserved). The cut-off date for signing up to participate for the first drawing will be 12 noon on Sunday, 3 July 2005. Please do not sign up to participate if you don’t have the sticks to manage it. I want this to run as smoothly and as drama free as possible. However, it is a great way to win a ton of Habanos for a relatively small input.
I hope you join us in this Lotto.
