Since I sent most all of my domestics to Stogiman for shipment to Iraq, I only had a choice of 3 smokes today. One was a 2004 Monty that Im told isnt ready, but I may have to smoke soon, it looks so good, the 2nd choice was a Opus X (cedar wrapped with a red band on the bottom, is that a perfection x?), but I decided to save that for a nice day outside if it ever gets here. So I pulled out the HdM EL 2003 I recieved from Tony Bones.

The construction was very nice, though it did seem a bit "wrinkely". It lit effortlessly and had a very easy draw. The burn was a bit uneven, but that may be due to my humi being a couple % higher than I would like.

The first draw brought just a bit of sweetness to the lips and tongue and a spicyness to the back of the pallet. An inch or so in brought a nice full flavor, a hint of creamyness and some nice spiceyness. This great combination went all the way to the last inch.

Though it burned a bit uneven, it didn't tunnel and it stayed lit all the way through.

I did smoke this on an empty stomach, and am still a newbie on ISOM's, so I did get a buzz from this one, but a really nice buzz.

Im not into putting numbers on ratings, but I truly enjoyed this cigar.

Glad you enjoyed it. I too have had one of these w/ a slight burn problem...although it didn't hamper the taste. Seems that this is the norm w/ ISOM's. Occasionally you get one w/ a burn issue :(
 
At the suggestion of Phil, I got a box for the Newbie trade and sent him about half. I have now smoked three of the remaining cigars. I usually try and age them for a couple of years, but in this case they were too good not to smoke. I will try and keep my hands off for a while. Thanks for the review.
