I'm heading to Tampa this Sunday for a two week course for a Cisco certification. I don't imagine I'll have a ton of free time as classes run from 9-5 every day for all 14 days and there'll be studying at night.

But... if I do, anyone have any recommendations on a B&M to check out? Cigar friendly restaurants? Anyone want to get together, light up a smoke and listen to me bitch about Cisco? The last part is optional. ;)

Let me know... I'll be there the 4th - 18th. Take care,

I know nothing of Tampa except what I see online and it looks like you are going to have a lot of fun! There are some natives here that will give you a lot of info, no doubt. On the down side, the Cigar City of America, in particular, Ybor City in Tampa, I have heard, has banned smoking. Despite that there are places to smoke cigars, see cigars rolled, and buy cigars. You have a good time and let us know if you find any special places. Enjoy CENTCOM.

Search is your friend. There a couple of threads about Tampa...

A few highlights:

Tampa Sweethearts - Fuente store...Meet the Fuentes! Buy some cigars! Get a t-shirt!
Berns - Food, wine...it ain't the cheapest place in town, but you'll eat and drink like a king.
Ybor City - once the cigar capitol of the US. Still a great place to spend an afternoon/evening.

Sounds like a pretty intense class..hope you get a few hours off to enjoy yourself.

Hey John, Maybe we can hook up for a smoke, I have a favorite place which sits overlooking the bay. If the weather is right, which it usually is, you can sit on the patio and have smokes, drinks and dinner.

I generally don't frequent many of the B&Ms around here, but I do hear fun can be had in Ybor City.

Mons Venus is legendary, so i hear.

Quite a few years ago it indeed was. The girls there were...exquisite...to say the least. It's changed over the years though, and Tampa has had an on-again-off-again relationship with them, sometimes enacting "proximity" rules (i.e., how close the girls can get), sometimes backing off of them. Last time I was ever there, no "proximity" rules were in place and it was an absolutely amazing place...particularly the VIP room.

But, of the few clubs in that area (Seven Seas and the other one that is actually shaped as a goddamn spaceship/ufo), Mons beats them hands down.

But, back in the day, Mons was truly a place to behold.

Thanks for the info guys. I searched and found a few other Tampa threads, but was looking for the latest and greatest info.

Fatken, I'll shoot you a PM once I get settled in and see what kind of time I'm going to love. It'd be fun to meet up and enjoy a cigar.

I'm off today. My class schedule is from 8:30am - 6:30pm for 14 straight days and the labs are open 24 hours, so I don't envision to much free time. I was hoping to swing by Tampa Sweethearts today, but they're closed on Sunday. Maybe I can hit them during lunch one day.

I'm taking a Padron 40th Anniversary maduro to celebrate with when I pass. I hope it only takes one chance at the test, but they give us up to 8.

See ya. :)
