Hello from Boston, any recommendations?

Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking around the forumns for a bit now, and have started posting as of late since this seems like a great place to share ideas and opinions. My cigar expereince is mixed, I have been smoking on and off for about the last 7 years, but have started to really learn about the smokes over the last two, however i find that i really know nothing and have a long way to go. I was wondering if people could give me some recommendations to build up my tasting palate. I am looking for examples of cigars that are examples of a particular taste so i can understand other peoples reviews a bit better. So if people could recommend cigars in the following categories:

Nutty
Cedar
Earth
Leather
Others that people can recommend

I think i get the mild, medium, and full think as well as the spicy. But I would not mind recommendations in those categories as well. I do not think i need to most complex cigars or really even good ones, just reference points that would help me better understand the flavoris of different cigars.

Thanks for the quick recommendations, how would you guys classify each of those smokes. The PAM 64's (is that the correct abbreviation) is a full bodied smoke but what would you say is the taste. How is the Ghurka? I am at the point that i like a bunch of different tastes, but i am not sure how to explain it. So recent smokes that I liked, The Cusano Corojo 97, Cusano Exclusivo, Davidoff Special R, CAO Cameroon. But not sure on how to describe each one, other then i liked them.

Can anyone recommend a decent smoke bar in the greater Fairfax, VA area. I spend 1 to 2 weeks a month down there so that is why I ask.
 
Welcome to CP from PA. I'll second the Gurkha line. They make many different ones but all are pretty good and some are great.
 
I recommend you trade Damon to the Yankees.

Oh wait, you wanted cigar recommendations. My bad.

Can't go wrong with the 26. But for tones, call me cheap, but I like Vintage by RP or even cheaper---Indian Tabac boxers. And Puros Indios. And of course illegal smokes.
 
Had the RP 90 and I like that alot, in the Toro size, have not had any of the puros or INdian tabacs, how do those compare?

Well, most would say not as well. But cigar smoking is all about the personal preference. There are no wrong answers. But I am on an IT jag right now. And Orlando Reyes cigars have always been a favorite for me. Could be just sentimentality since they were the first nice cigars I ever smoked.

I would recommend going to the Newbie Trade thread. There are some great guys there who will hook you up according to your tastes while giving you a nice variety. All trustworthy fellows.
 
Howdy Adam and welcome to CP from Cornwall, NY on the Hudson River. I see that you enjoy the CAO Cameroons, one of my favorites as well. You might want to try the AVO Signature Series as well as the K. Hansotia Symphony Series cigars and go from there. Enjoy them and post often...... :) :thumbs: :cool:
 
Welcome to the forum from a fellow Bostonian.

I reccomend that yo try either the CAO Italia or the Rocky Patel Vintage line !
