This Hen's Tooth by Morland is a Brown Ale catagorized as an English Strong Ale. Here is my RateBeer.com write-up on it. :
I put the bottle in the fridge along with a pint glass for 10 minutes after being room temperature. I am a Brown Ale fan, and when I saw this near a new Belgian Ale I wanted to try, I grabbed a bottle. The most rewarding feature of this beer was the Amber/Caramel color. I poured the cool beer into my pint. The beer formed a nice head from the small bubbles of carbonation made from the secondary bottle fermented beer. As I darnk it down, the head subsided and a lace was left in the glass. The flavor was nutty, sweet, and strong. The flavor seemed concentrated on the roof of my mouth and the rear of my tongue. While the beer tasted good, the flavor was not balanced. The nasal aspect of the after taste had me conclude that the strength dominated over the rest of the flavors. Over all I found this to be a good beer. It would probably a hell of a night drinking these on tap at a pub. Being a fairly stout %6.5 ABV, I am sure they are a hit among the younger crowd.
Overall 3.2/5.0
