This has to have been discussed but I could not find it in the search engine.

Does anyone insure their cigars? If so how do you do it............a special policy?............a rider on your home owners policy?

I think my homeowners policy has a category limit i.e. $xxxx for any category of item such as books, stamp collection, guns, etc. If I own more than that limit in that category I have to add a rider to my policy.

Does anyone have experience with this? Or just point me to previous threads if they exist.

Thanks

Good question.

I would have to assume that it falls under "possessions", non specified items, just like TV's, clothes etc???

I don't have a valuable enough stash to warrant a rider. They are covered under the general policy along with everything else.

I'd need about $10,000 more in cigars to warrant the rider. If I had that many cigars my life insurance would likely kick in before anything else as my wife would kill me!
