Hi everybody
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you all.
I have a question about length of storage.
If I have boxes of cigars unopened, stored in a Humi. How long will they last before they are unsmokable.

I am hoping to collect various boxes of my favorite brands to smoke when I retire as I will not be able to afford to buy them when I finish work.
I have about 15 years working left. Then it is Fishing and working on my old Triumphs.

As long as you maintain a stable environment in the humi, 20+ years (if you have the willpower to resist smoking them all).

Thanks for the reply.
20+ years sounds good to me and willpower is something I do have.

Hmmm...maybe I should send you some of my smokes to store for me for 20 years. When it comes to cigars, willpower is something I don't have. Man, would I love to see what the RyJ Short Churchill tastes like in 20 years.

Although debated many times, this still remains and interesting topic!

Interesting because IMO, I don't think that you can define age on a broad scale.
As with wine, every cigar is different and will age differently. As with wine, there
is a limit that the cigar will improve and then may (or will) start going the other way.

Collectors and smokers of Cuban cigars who have been around for many years can
better answer which brand or which cigar in which brand will age best and when that peak will be.
We may be surprised to find out that many cigars may not get any better after 10 years.

These days many producers of Cuban cigars have found a way to make the smoke enjoyable
when young. This is another topic perhaps best left to Wilkey and Co, to explain why or how
they are able to do this.

Good answer Infinity. I have very old port wine some of which will get more depth and character with age and some needs to be drunk after only 4 or 5 years.I have pre WW2 Tawney port which will last indefinatly (or at least untill i get to 55).So I guess the same go's with Cigars,It just comes down to the quality.
