I honestly don't know why you sent the cigars before receiving payment. ???

They listed three very reputable people here as references, and it since this I've checked with them, and they all said everything went fine. I guess this is my "Lesson Learned"!

Well, I don't care who they listed, I only send cigars prior to payment to people who I KNOW who won't screw me. I used to be more freewheeling in the past but I almost got burned on a NST last summer so never again.

But it's been three weeks now and several "check is in the mail" promises.

Doesn't sound very honest on their part; out 'em to protect the group.

This sounds like exactly what's happening here, and now I'm in the same boat as you.

Out him..... for the sake of everyone else also..... you don't know if he is attempting to do some sort of transaction with someone else while this thread is going on.

After one "the check's in the mail" that turned out to be BS it's time to "let loose the lions"..... :whistling:

My $00.02 - B.B.S.

Yep it sucks Gonz, you're genuinely trying to be a good BOTL but after a while, ya get a little cynical.

Matt R. did address this in his "Bill of Rights" thread, NEVER send out cigars before payment is received which I think is a good way to do business.

2 weeks is long enough. That should give everyone involved the necessary time to get the $hit straight.

After overwhelming response, Butchcole has been publically outed here.

But please feel free to keep adding opinions on what time frame you feel is right for this process.

Hehe, yep, he's already outted, but added my 2 cents anyway.

I said three weeks becaues it can take my packages or mail to get to someone on the west coast about 14 days or so.

But if he's not in Baghdad, 2 weeks is prolly long enough, lol.

I voted 2 weeks. I think that's fair although it should never take that long. There may be extenuating (sic?) circumstances preventing immediate action, but there still should be some contact.

As a Newbie, I always jump right on something as soon as possible to build a good rep, but obviously that should apply to anyone, regardless of their status.

I don't know about that. If you're interested in buying cigars, (as Butch was in this case), it would seem that the onus is on you to get that check out ASAP. Butch should have mailed the money RIGHT AFTER confirming the deal with Gonz (i.e. the same day the deal was done) How much effort is it to write out a check and put it in an envelope? He wanted the cigars, he should have had his checkbook ready to go.

We've had members who have done stuff like this, been outed and then got their act together and returned to being respectable traders again.

Out him, for his own good.

He said!

Unless you are dead there is no excuse. Well maybe there is just one time you may be excused - when you are dead, asshole.

I just don't get it. I would not be able to sleep if I owed someone bucks. The morals of some folk astounds me at times.

Andy, Bill is right, payment first, you are not a charity organization. Many times in my life, whether in business or personal, there have been people that I have trusted, who have shocked and disappointed me. The very same people one would never and I mean NEVER, think twice about trusting.

Takes all kind of people to make up our strange world.
