How many of you guys frequently write code?

Right now the majority of my work is Java developing in WebSphere (IBM's special version of Eclipse). Running everything in Windows XP.

When I am maintaining stuff, it's mostly VB/COM+/HTML and some Windows scripting.

As for me, I mostly work in Linux and do SAS, perl, xml/html kind of stuff, and FAME, in that order.

I work in tcsh and use emacs as my editor.

xml/html is not code... perl barely is. :)

You guys are all weenies  !! Any of y'all ever programmed in IBM assembler language? Probably not. You've got to have real hair on your chest to do that :p !

Why yes, actually, I have. ;)

I used to program alot. Started with the basics - basic, gwbasic, Fortran, Pascal, Cobol, RPG moved into VB in the early 90s. Spent some time working C, C++ and Unix C Shell, PERL and stuff. Not done too much HTML and never formally studied it at all. Last time I regularly coded was 96. Last project at all was a Military program in Osan in 99/00. That sucked because it was repairing a project that had been patched by about a dozen programmers for nearly 20 years, with no documentation either.

Couldn't graduate from my school without doing x086 assembly classes, not sure if that's what you mean.

Intersting stuff, but I like the high-level languages better.

Morse???? Does that count? How about the secret decoder ring thingy?

If those don't count then I occasionally hack with Java, C++, SQL, Perl, and windows scripting using WinBatch. Started out with Fortran using them punch punch...errr...cards in high school. Then moved on with PASCAL and COBOL in college. But, thems dead languages now.
