I was looking around for 8-5-8 sg to no avail but I got hooked up to 2 Hemi classic SG. Anyone tried these yet? Any info as always is appreciated.

Joe

Joe, I have been hunting these for a while... If you can get more get them.. they are worth it..

..note.. and I do know where you got them, but I am tapped right now...

There were a limited number of boxes made sometime around 03 or 04. I believe it was less than 200 boxes. These are not part of regular production.... at least last I heard they weren't.

Hopefully you are confident in your source as I have heard of people trying to pass regular Classics off as SG Classics.

Here's a link to Moki's page on them:

I have smoked one and have another 3 or 4 resting. It was very good, but not worth the price tag these command. Well, unless you got them from TS for MSRP :p

...and you'll be good to go! :)

As for the cigars, they are pretty rare. Only 165 boxes of 25 cigars per box officially released (with a few more boxes later going to Casa Fuente)... so we're talking aboug under 4-5,000 cigars ever made.

Yeah I'd be a bit concerned about that too, Kenny. They also could be Maduro Classics... they can sometimes look similar to the SGs.

Gotcha ;)

So, when you don't get them from TS for MSRP, what are they worth, and if there was only a limited release 3-4 years ago, is TS just slowly releasing them? I'm confused, but happy to be sitting on a couple.

They're worth whatever someone else is willing to pay. Personally I don't see anything special about them other than rareity. Decent smoke but wouldn't go out of my way for more. I'd rather smoke a Chateau Cuban Belicos SG. Much better cigar IMO.

Thought I read some years back that these might have a chance of becoming regular production..... didn't they show up about the time the 858 SG stopped being produced? Hell, I stopped trying to keep up. Andrew?

As far as I know, they were just a limited run -- last I heard, there was no plan to make them a regular production, or even an irregular production cigar.

I really like them -- I don't think they are worth the $24 a stick that Casa Fuente sells them for, but I really enjoy the spice the SG wrapper brings to the Hemingway line.

They are really good cigars. I'm down to a sealed box that was bought in a local store at msrp. It's a hard to find box of cigars. Once in a while I want to smoke one, but that sealed box looks so nice in the humidor. lol IIRC, the Hemi Classic SG went to thirty stores that were window display contest winners, five boxes to each store.
