How to get out of a gifted (nasty) cigar

Why not just try it? It's not something you would normally consciously buy or acquire, so maybe this is one of those times that call upon you to experience new things. Of course, I wouldn't smoke it in front of him, but hey, you can always fib and say you finished the whole stick, but give some lame excuse such as "it left a filthy after taste my girlfriend didn't appreciate, so I can't smoke those anymore" or something like that.

Suck it up and smoke it.

Whenever me and my high school friends go fishing we stop off at a gas station get a handful of Moon Shine Crooks. They are terrible, flavored cigars. They are really nasty. They all know I smoke nice cigars, but I smoke the same as them, I guess just to bond with them more. I then usually hand each a fuente or tampa sweetheart and move on.

Smoke it, but incessantly talk about why you deserve a raise. He'll either give you one, or he'll never, ever ask you to smoke a cigar with him again. You win both ways.

Smoke it with him. If it's bad, say so... a good boss will appreciate your honesty. Well, at least that's the fantasy world I live in. :)

He's your boss, what the hell CAN you do? :(

Take it as an opportunity to convert another lost soul into our world. Gift him a couple sticks and if he's cool, smoke with him, if not, you've shown him what REAL cigars are supposed to be and tell him you quit smoking!

return the favor and give him a really good cigar. Maybe he will realize that he smokes cigars that are not so good.

I have to totally agree with Dave ... pass him an anejo or Tat, he'll sure to pass on those flavored sticks.

Well, what did he think of the Monte #2?

He really liked it. He asked where he could get more and that started us on the embargo talk. He's bummed that he can't get more of the one's I had but said that he'll be sure to try out other cigars rather than sticking with 'Kona' cigars....

It often works out that way...
Give them something better and they'll want what you're having rather than sticking to their mediocre ones. And before you know it, you'll be their go-to connoisseur!

I've already turned three people in my shop. One guy went to Walgreens last and bought a box of KING EDWARDS!!!! I could have shot the guy right then and there. I made him take them back and go to my B/M to get some real sticks. Trouble is, he doesn't have a humi so I'm his storage option right now. It's all good to me because he's not smoking trash now.
