Newbie here. Wondering if anyone has used one of these chests as a humidor? They are auctioning them off on Cigar Bid and it seems like a cheap way to get a larger humidor. What do you think?

I think if your big concerns are CHEAP and HUGE, a coolerdor is the better option. Chances of that thing having a solid seal and construction are pretty slim, I would imagine, though I could surely be wrong.
Not to mention, it's kinda fun putting a coolerdor together and customizing it with shelves and cedar.

By the way, take a few mitnues to fill out your profile and introduce yourself. We're a friendly bunch of fellas, and would like to get to know you.

thanks for responding. The Coolidor is something I was thinking about also. I like the look of the chest though. teh other thing that is keeping me away from setting up a cooler, is that I will have to fill it. I have a 200 humi and a 40 humi, that were full 2 weeks ago. Of course it only holds about half of that. I am trying to keep in control, bu the Devil(cigar bid), is addicting.

Oh, boy....c-bid is only one of the numerous avenues of addicting cigar buying! I agree the look of the crate is better than a cooler. Who knows, it might work great!
For a cheap, big humi, I have been, and still am, a big fan of the Barrister Humi from JR. No singles storage, btu empty boxes work well, as do the cedar drawers if you can find them.

I have two of these I used for humidors. I wanted a lot of room but didn't like the look of the cooler. The seals aren't all that great but they were good enough for me. I just made sure to check it every week or so (I open it a lot, so I'm sure that has something to do with losing humidity). I'm happy with it as a cheap alternative to a cooler. I only use one now so if you want one, let me know and I'll give you a great deal on it.

Thanks for the offer. I need to hold off for now. My monthly allowance has all been spent on cigars. But I will check in with you later this month about the chest.
