I'm a noob to cigar smoking...I've been smoking for just about 6 months.

This is the first Hoyo de Monterrey that I've smoked. Had to say that I enjoyed this very much. It almost looks like a maduro. It burned unevenly, but it held together very good. Smoked 2/3 of the cigar...couldn't finish it, got too strong and light headed :blush:

The taste...it was pretty good. I must say that it was very smooth. Not as strong as I expected...looking at the wrapper made me think strong...but it wasn't.

Does anyone else think these are good smokes?

I picked up a little three pack of these a few months ago in San Diego...decent smoke..pretty hard to come by out here..I would smoke one again..bieng a Batman nut..I jumped all over them..wasn't disapointed at all..not a bad newbie smoke

I have one left from a sampler I got a while back. Smoked the first one while camping, and was pleasently suprised. Will probably get more in the future,

Funny how the color of the wrapper doesn't fully indicate the robustness/strength of the cigar.

The cigar's flavor was spicy and leathery.
Very smooth....

Any other cigars that are similar?

There are several cigars with a dark coloured wrapper that are about the same strength...try a Partagas Black Label...probably about the same price...
