I paid about $6.50 at a local B&M. Box of 20 at JR lists at $69.95 as listed at JR

Keep in mind that I'm new to cigars and have been mostly smoking mild to medium cigars. Frankly, the dark wrapper intimidated me a bit, but I was up for the challenge. No sleep for the wicked - I bought this cigar yesterday and smoked it today.

No libations this time - sorry AVB. I dug into my John Wayne collection and popped "Operation Pacific" in the DVD player and lit my cigar. Post light draw was slightly tight, but I like that. Smoke volume was good and the first run through the nostrils was wonderful. I've read all the reviews with adjectives like woody, leathery, peppery, and creamy, but I just can't relate. I will go with the leather taste, but not like I'm chewing my shoelaces, but the taste in the mouth around a new saddle. Given my level of experience, I would have settled for not bitter. I got an absolutely delicious smoke.

The ash first fractured about 2 inches down. It was white with some dark bands and a few black specks. I apologize for my dull palate, but I just thoroughly enjoyed the smoke. The Duke was, well, the Duke. The cigar lasted from the opening credits through to fishing his fly-boy love competitor out of the water, about 70 minutes. I smoked it until I couldn't hold it any longer. I didn't hit it like a vacuum cleaner, but I stayed on it from start to finish. At NO TIME WAS THIS SMOKE BITTER. I was impressed! I will be looking for more of these for my humi.

edited for hideous grammar and an incomplete sentence. DOH!

Good review. I don't taste food in my cigars either. If the damn things tasted like chocolate my wife would be smoking em'

Doc.

I picked a 5er of these up while shopping for SS and smoked 1, gave 3 away, and am sitting on the 5th.

Really good cigars and I plan on picking up a box in the near future.

Nice review NS!

I agree... this is one of my favorite smokes. I like that it is not very mild, but still quite smooth with no bitterness. And at that price, the box works out to about $3.50 a stick... not too shabby!

Great review!
