Humidification....

I almost posted this in the "Hot Deals" forum, but thought better of it.

I bought some cigars from one of the dealers who posts there. All were Padrons.....2 were 1926's and 2 were 1964's. Then I bought a sampler of the other Padron lines.

Now, to me these are pretty high dollar cigars. I've ordered lesser sticks from CI, and the package always came with a water pillow. Is it the norm for them to ship (esp. the higher dollar stuff) without humidification? Or am I asking too much?

It depends on the dealers policy. Some offer some form of humidification on every cigar may it be cheap or expensive. Some dont do that at all. So its better to cheak first before you order and maybe u can request them to use some form of humidification.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've never had a water pillow in any cigar delivery, including CI. The sticks are usually only in transit for 2-5 days, so no big worries.

They came from Florida, so I'm not terribly worried about it. I do have an order coming from Arizona, though.....

I guess I just assumed that premium product=premium service. Looks like I'll be chalking this one up to experience.

I agree, nothing much will change in 2 to 5 days.
Heat, not RH, is more of a problem.

It's always a balancing act for vendors. I've had sticks with water pillows, etc. show up sporting a nice growth of blue hair (mold)....

I agree with the other guys - 2-5 days shouldn't be an issue, if the gars are bagged and packed appropriately.

I've ordered off a few places online and never had an order arrive with a waterpillow. At the same time I've never had any problems with cigars arriving too dry. I think if you shipped with waterpillows you'd have to be extra careful that the pillow didn't come in contact with the cigars.

As long as it was shipped in a sealed bag of some sort, the cigars will be fine without a humidification device in it.

my orders usually take 5-7 days, none of my orders came with any kind of humidification device, inlcuding orders from CI

Never had CI use water pillows (although I've bought some from CBid), but unless they forget to put them in a sealed bag there's no reason to over humidify them.

Yup as long as they are sealed you will be fine

Like they said, typically companies tend to ship cigars a bit wet too incase they dry out a little in shipping so there fine as long as there sealed.

Looks like they did! All was well packed. I just assumed they should have some humidification. Lesson learned.

I have never ever had water pillow or any humidifying device from any of the many retailers I have purchased from on the net.CI never,Famous never,corona,holts,tobacco world,all never.
I did get one from atlantic for the JDN antano reserve but that box came with a humidifying device because it was a humidor.
Gabrial of sabor havana always added one and in fact,the first time the gars came wet because of it and I requested he not add one.But all has been fine since,even with pillows.
