Before I start know that I do not belong to any political party. This is just what I am thinking with the new "News of the Day"

You know, it is so easy to look back at pre-Sept. 11th and think of a million things that we might have caught which may have prevented the tragedy at the WTC. However I think what is going on now is in part, triggered by a "witch hunt".

Seems to me that the current administration is doing what they can to better communications and information nationwide. I really doubt anyone wanted a tragedy like this to happen. Anyone who isn't "an enemy" of the U.S.

I am pissed off that folks in the House and Senate are acting as though "something crucial was missed and we couuld have prevented this". Hogwash! It was going to happen, something of this magnitude was going to happen. Something of this magnitude most likely will happen again. It is like someone who is truly suicidal. If you really want to kill yourself no matter what, you are going to do it. If Terrorists really want to do damage, no matter what, they are going to do damage.

I think Bush is doing the best he can with what he has to work with. I say lay off. Let's make better what we can and unite together to keep our country and it's citizens as safe as possible.

Some truth to what you said. But, the fact of the matter is that we, the United States, was very lax in it's security measures and something COULD have been done to prevent the attacks or at least minimize what happened. I would hope that nothing like this happens again. I do not want to live with the fear the Israelis and other countries deal with on an hourly basis as they go about their normal day. So, the more we can target the people who do this sort of thing the better. If there are no terrorists, there is no terror. I know this is a pipe dream, but we can all hope.

I agree with you Deb, whole heartedly. I would also like to add, that for some individuals to now claim that no plane hit the Pent. and it is all a lie from uncle sam to cover up a misstle attack, is a blatent slap to the families of those who died in that crash. Blasphemy of the dead. It sickens me that some HOLE started that rumour and so many people are actually thinking it is true. Sick

Now back to your original programming
 
I agree with you on this shadowryder. This could not have been avoided. To blame the Bush admin. is ridiculous. What were they to do, shut down the whole works? Just imagine how all of us spoiled Americans would have reacted to that!

I do agree that airport security was and, to some deree still, is way too lax and should have been better. That shouldn't fall on the President, though. That is a result of years of complacency(sp) brought on by thinking it could never happen here.
 
Well,
I am also discusted at the actions of trying to fix blame for the situation. Yet I do see a few things like we did get warnings about Hijackings, and specifically about hijackings by Bin Ladens supporters. These facts where abruptly clear.

The only thing I feel that could have been done was alerts being issued when the notices came in, and mabe even a bit more security at the Airports knowing that they where target.

I think it should be simple Could more have been done? Certainly.
The only remaining question would be then why was it not done?


But as to fixing blame to GW? I could not go that far.
The entire farce about the french claiming the pentagon was not hit by a plane is BS. I know a couple of people first hand who saw the plane wreckage inside the pentagon complex.

Woulda coulda shoulda is about the tone they are crying now.

So in a nutshell,
The american political machine has recovered and they are now focusing on keeping thier jobs or getting the possition of president for someone else. At the same time they are making fools of themselves.
 
I hadn't heard this rumor about the Pentagon. Some folks will believe anything I guess.

I agree that we could have taken steps to help minimize our vulnerability some years ago. At least we are improving things now. For anyone who thinks that something similar or worse won't happen again, to them I say...dream on. The door has opened and our vulnerability has been shown. We have only just started to see the beginning......

Well, with that in mind I am going to enjoy another cigar and watch the horses and pretend that life hasn't changed one iota :)
