Would someone, anyone, please either post here or pm me with the details of what I need to do to be able to accept payment into my paypal account. I've got a couple folks here who would like to pay me that way for a box split we're doing, but I don't know what I need to do on my end.

Thanks.

They just send the money to the email address you use for Paypal.

Sounds good, thanks. The account is already verified, so I guess I'm all set.

The only exception is if you want to accept credit card payments. If you do, you will have to upgrade to a Premier account. All that means is that your fee structure will be a little higher. Other than that, you are all set.

premier account to accept credit card payments?

Hmm, didn't know that was the case.

I just made a purchase...from someone on this board.
I'll ask to see if he has a premier account.

I'm assuming that it costs money to upgrade to a premier account.

From what I recall it does not cost you anything to sign up for a primier account. I believe the difference is that it allows your account to accept payment by credit card but they charge you 3% of the transaction for a fee. Its not uncommon for people to request a "buyer" to add 3% to their payment if they prefer to pay by credit card.

I may be off on the % charged and there may be a limit to the fee. My advice would be to read the user agreement.

good to know...I've got to check my credit card to see if I got charged 3%.

From now on, I've got to pay by checking/savings account!

There are never fees to send money. Only to receive money.

My take in a nutshell... :p

For the free PayPal account, you have spending limits and monthly receiving limits. You can only accept payments from either a funded account or bank transfer. There are no fees to you for using this type of account.

If you need to accept CC payments, you are forced to upgrade to a premier account. You don't have any spending or receiving limits. You can then receive payments made with a CC.
But,...
You are then charged a fee on any and all payments you receive even if it's from a free funded account. The base structure fee is 2.9% + $.30 subtracted from the money you are paid.

If you have a couple of different bank accounts or CCs, you can sign up for both accounts and only use the premier when you have to. You add the fees to the total and have the buyer foot the extra fees.
