I'm not big on watching any of the major networks or their "specials" tomorrow (September 11, 2002). I am big on keeping up on our progress overseas combatting terrorism. We are the watchdogs here on the homefront. We can speak up when we see something fishy. Over there, there is very little sneaking up on anyone, our military is in a firefight whenever they confront the terrorists. They have to be disappointed that life in our world has come to this point, but as Americans we have a duty to stamp out those that would destroy all others.

What if we all chipped in and sent some cigars overseas to the millitary. We could all send 1-2 and then I would be glad to send them overseas to our military. I know those young people would love them, but I wonder where to send them to? Would they keep during the trip? Is there any way to make this work? I enjoy being active, not a spectator.

Nice idea, but I'm sure our military would not accept cigars or any type of product that is consumed in any way from people they don't know. Reason being, how do they know the items are not tainted? In this day and age, I doubt it would be successful. Just my opinion...

I agree with Rod. Here is something you can do. Take some cigars to your local Fire or Police stations as a thank you. If you have a VA hospital near you send some cigars to the Vets. I put together an assortment of cigars and let a friend of mine who works at the hospital give them to the Vets there. I do this every Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

I think what rod said is unfortunately most likely true. However, I think it would mean even more to those guys over there to get letters letting them know how much we admire them and thank them for what they do, and what they give up day in and day out to fight for world safety.

I haven't a clue where one would send such letters, but I know that true admiration would mean so much more to me than some cigars if I were there fighting.

If you read CA, you'd know that the NYPD and FDNY will lovingly accept them if you bring them down face to face. Those guys really appreciate that stuff.
