If they sign the SCHIP bill into law, I propose we all have A nation wide herf that day. Everyone smoke A cigar in protest. I'll bet we could smell cigar smoke from state to state. Are you in?

I'm unfamiliar with this bill since I'm in Canada but a quick Google search produced this: SHIP Bill: 1916 The bill authorizing the Government to purchase or build merchant ships "for the purpose of encouraging, developing, and creating a naval auxiliary and naval reserve and a merchant marine to meet the requirements of the commerce of the United States.
I'm assuming this isn't what you're talking about. :blush:

Yes, it's SCHIP. I forget what all the acronym stands for, but the 'CHI' is 'children's health insurance,' I believe.

The 'sight the SHIP' typo in the header made me think of the Banana Boat Song for some reason . . .

Just what amount the federal tax is going to go up is another question.

I heard 2 different numbers.


.04 cents to .12 cents maybe .12.5 cents.

.50 cents

Sorry about the typo. I heard they were after as much as 3 bucks. I think it'll end up around .40c in the end. I just think we should all light up the night they sign it into law just for the fun of it.

Agreed. I could handle 40 cents but $3 would make some premium cigars kinda no-no.
