i love the fiscal note at the bottom, look at the savings, they neglect to disclose how much the enforcement of said law will cost though (signs, posters etc...wonder which legislator has a brother in law in the sign/poster making business?

When the county=wide ban went into effect, the health department were fining and threatening to pull liquor license for anyone NOT displaying the designated signs by the timeline set up. I know of about four taverns that were fined substantially for this.

I love the general phrasing of Public Place. That means once you walk outside your home, you are in the Public. So that means you can't smoke in your own yard as the air is Public. I'd say they can blow me and being allergic to many types of chemicals like perfume and cologne...I'd have to sue them for endangering my life as its spreading over public air and slowly killing me. I'd sure that wouldn't fly and its the truth.

I heard about this on my drive into work today - what a crappy way to start the day. One of the bill's sponsors mentioned that the restaurants didn't even put up a fight - so much for Gibson's (although they already went cigar-free), Ditka's, etc. What a joke. :angry:

They tried this crap in this town. The Bar Owners was going to sue the city if they tried to enforce bars as no smoking. At least I can go to a bar and smoke here. Hell...I've seen places you can't even smoke in a Tobacco place. That is really messed up. :angry:

It's totally outrageous. This is just another form of POS legislation that was passed in order to make a few people feel good about themselves. Illinois has much bigger problems that need to be addressed and this is the crap we get from Springfield. Welcome ot the state of Chicago in the city of Illinois.

When the politicians moved out of Springfield and the Governor won't even live in the mansion, we knew Illinois had become just a subsidiary of Chicago. Look at the votes though..... this is an across the board, bi-partisan vote. This bill will be amended many times before it goes into effect next year. The Illinois Beverage Association already has the briefs drafted and ready to file. Our local reps (one voted against (Brauer), one voted for(Poe) in the House and our senator (Bomke) voted yes) say that while they didn't like some of the definitions, they were follwoing what their constituents wanted and unfortunately, they are telling the truth.

I've already sent Lipinski an e-mail with my thoughts on this bill. I'm also going to his offce to have a face to face. Maybe that's what these guys need, a chance to see the people that they are affecting, when they see the type of people we are they may have a change of heart. We do vote, i'm assuming, so tell it to their face! :angry:
