My first post here, so I just wanted to say hey and introduce myself.

The first thing I want to say is thank you for saving me a fortune so far. How? If it wasn't for THIS forum, I would have purchased a small humidor and wasted $$$ because the need for a bigger one came soon after. Instead I went into my closet and made me a great coolerdor. The info about how to make it was perfect with no questions unanswered. I am now at 68% RH. In addition I had no clue of what cigars to buy (typical newbie) even though I have smoked plenty over the years with none that really grabbed me. I guess I would be called a "special occasion smoker" until now. I have even had a few ISOM's that the ex-wife was nice enough to bring me from across the pond.

As of the last month I have been smoking 2 or 3 a day and collecting all kinds of cigars that were reviewed here, usually under $10. My favorite so far is the Padron 2000 Maduro. I love everything about it. My only slight complaint was the cap, but a punch took care of that problem (thanks again guy's). I went out this morning and bought 5 more and got a 6th for free. My local shop has them for $3.30 ea, which I saw today on this forum is the MSRP. How do they make money? I also love the El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Maduro, can ya tell I like Maduro? Today I went on a hunt for some guy named Rocky Patel and found him in a great cigar lounge near me. I bought an Edge Torp for $5 and smoked it on the way home. I truly loved the taste. So different from any other cigars i've tried. I'll be going back for a few of those on payday.

Well i'll stop gabbing now and say thanks again to all you FOG's. I'm sure I'll learn a lot more from you all, but right now I'm going outside with my dog to smoke one of those Padron's.

Welcome bro! Nice to see we converted you to a coolerdor. no all you have to do is watch the Sale and Trade section until you find some trades that look good. You'll save a ton of money, and try a variety of cigars at box prices instead of singles prices.

Welcome Shibumi. Great bunch of guys here! Next time you are in NYC, stop by the new Davidoff store in the AOL/Time Warner building at Columbus Circle. Good selection of Padrons and LFDs and the staff is very helpful.

If you want to get up and running with a great bunch of smokes, do the Newbie Sampler trade (a pinned thread) - you won't be sorry!!!

Thanks everyone for the warm newbie welcome. I AM humbled. I just want to say, the info on this forum is top notch and everyone here is beyond friendly. I can't believe how much I learned so far and in such a short time. I know I still have sooo much more to learn. Can't wait.

That's funny, my brother use to work in that building a few years back. I'll have to stop in there. NYC prices I assume? I'm always in Manhattan for something, usually John's Pizza in the Village. The best pizza on the planet!....alright, at least best in NY. Thanks for the info on the padrons not too many places have them out here. I've been hunting for other types.

He's right, I just added it after reading the Cigar BB Newbie Guide by Eshaw99. Thanks Eshaw99 for all that useful info. Really helps a BOTL along. ;)
