Hi everybody. I've been lurking here for one whole day (well, one whole slow day at work, and it's been a week from hell) and it appears that the folks here are a helpfull, laid back crowd. This looks like a cool place to hang.
I started smoking cigars last summer. A R&J Bully, a La Gloria Cubana Wavell...alright, they're OK.
Then, at a hoity-toity social function I was offered an eye-ess-oh-em. A Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro.
OK! NOW I SEE!
While I've only had a couple of Cubans since then, I've begun to appreciate the abundance of fantastic flavors that are more readily available to us gringos, and the anticipation and sheer joy of lighting up and kicking back and savoring these babies. I can't wax eloquent about the finer points of cigars yet (and I may never be able to) but I am certainly into and thoroughly enjoying this new favorite passtime of mine.
I'm a music lover and musician, and I used to spend any spare dough on CD's.
Guess where that money's going now.
My oldest best buddy actually manages a couple of CIGAR STORES!!! We (I) now have a very good excuse to be keeping in touch after all these years of marriage and family raising and all that other good stuff. It's a good thing he's a bit of a distance away, 'cause familiarity might breed contempt.
Hope that don't happen here.
So many cigars...so little time.

Welcome captain...stick around and enjoy the show.

....sam with the showing scalp flat-top, particular about the point it made....

Cheers,
Joe

Welcome to CP Mirror Man! Nice to have another guy with 25+ years expieriance at being 21 here.

Welcome to the club!!! There is a great group of folks here, so if you need anything or have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

Captain Beefheart is the most important musician to rise in the Sixties, far more significant and far-reaching than the Beatles… His music is a harbinger of tomorrow, but his messages are universal and warm as the hearth of the America we once dreamed of.

Lester Bangs on the good Captain, Creem Magazine, 1971

His review of Trout Mask Replica (#58 on the RS greatest Albums ever) is priceless.

That's very cool that you (and others here) are hip to The Captain (and Lester Bangs too).
I met Lester once in Washington Square Park (he was chugging a bottle of Romilar). At the time ('79?) he was dating the sister of the guitar player in our band Coney Island Whitefish. His review of us... "You guys are awesome!"
First, but definately not the last time I heard that adjective used.
He was A-OK.

I was in the presence of The Captain a couple of times too, but words failed me. It was easier to talk to some of the other band members though.

How do from 'Bama. You won't find a more real and down to earth buch of cigar lovers anywhere else.
CP si the home of GAM-Grown ass men!!
That's mine, you can use it but it's mine.

He's not lying, he really is almost 50 even though he's giving us all second thoughts since he spells like Zac and the rest of the grade school children on the Island of the Misfit Toys

HOWDY Captain  Thanks for stopping by in Chat last night.
