Hello Folks,

It has been a long time since I have logged on to CigarPass. I have not found much time between work, school, girlfriend, etc... I did happen to get engaged on December 23rd and just started thinking..... "Hey, I need to buy as many cigars as I can before I have to start sharing my money." :)

So basically my interest in cigars has been rekindled (I did continue to smoke cigars during my vacation from CP) and I was wondering what are some of your favorite "cheap" or "everyday" cigars??? I want to go to a B&M and try some cigars that I know I could afford a whole box of.

I am well aware that everyone will have a different opinion and taste. I tend to like Medium to Full cigars and am looking for something in the sub $10 range. So far I think my favorite has to be a Liga Privada No. 9 "Flying Pig" that I had a few weeks ago.

Also, what are most of your rules as far as giving cigars to friends? Do you never/sometimes/always give them a cigar? I did that last summer and realized how costly it ended up being. Would I be rude or a jerk to start making them pay?

First off, congratulations! I'm about to take that plunge myself, still pretty antsy about it.

As far as what are some reasonably priced smokes, and I hate to sound like a broken record, but I'd get a box of Padron x000's and age them for a while. I've only had them when they were fresh out of the box, and absolutely loved them, but I've been told that with a little bit of aging they really become something top-shelf. In regards to friends and giving them cigars, I normally keep some cheaper sticks on hand as a.) they probably won't know the difference and b.) they'll still be involved in the activity. I'm not talking about dog rockets, but there are some $1 or cheaper cigars out there that fit the bill just fine.

I almost ALWAYS give cigars to my friends that are interested. The more of us that are in the hobby the better. Strength in numbers I say. As far as making them pay, in my opinion, that is a irreversible-unexplainable-dick-move to do to your buddy.

"Hey, so, as you know, I smoke cigars. Would you like to try one?"

"Sure man, thanks! How do I light it?"

"Nevermind that, I want my $10 bucks right now before you even think about torching that mother!"

"You're a dick and I'm never your friend ever again!" (kicks you in the balls)

"(sigh) (groan because of balls being kicked)"

Unless your buddies are Grade-A mooches, don't ever charge them for a smoke! Do you charge your buddies each time they crack open one of your beers? How about when they use the toilet, do you have them pay a $1 fee? You earn fail points for charging your friends...

Also, many congratulatory backslaps on ya for ending your life forever!! :sign:

Well when you put it that way.... :)

I guess I will just have to do what Merlin mentioned, buy some cheap sticks and if they start mooching too much I will just start giving them those and see how long it takes for them to start making trips to the cigar shop themselves. If I had some money it would be different. I am have a full-time student loan paired with a part-time working paycheck, lol.

Yeah, it can be tough man. Buy some rockets, let em' try em', and when they can appreciate the "good stuff," hand them some of that. If they keep moochin, have a conversation where you tell them to stand on their own two feet and get their sorry asses to the nearest cigar shop.

Well congrats from a 38 year veteran of I DO. You made the mistake of coming back here to get your ballz busted  ; seriously, Padron X000 is a sure fire winner, and the 2000 is easy on the pocket.

Be careful listening to Soulman, he got so desperate he had to resort to breaking a cigar out of a concrete block (oh yes, I'm serious).

Enjoy the institution (but buy now before it's too late :0 ).

Ahhh, so you DO use the search function sir! Well, I still don't know if Ray actually declared the NW of 08' a victory or not... :p

Congrats on the 1st step of marriage, we've all been there once or twice ourselves (almost all of us). As far as cigars to hand out and purchase for yourself, go on to some of the outlet shops online, i.e., Famous Smoke Shop, Atlantic Cigars, Cigar International, etc. and see what they have on their daily specials. I know that CI has the Daily Joe that has the shipping included, look here:

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/html/spec_jc.asp?globalt=1

I hope that helps and buys as many cigars as you can while your still a single man as the wallet tightens up a bit once your a couple....... :D

If anyone ever asked me to pay for a cigar I'd tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine....

On the flipside, I'd never expect to be given a cigar. If your buddies are expecting cigars then you need new buddies...

I win at everything I do. While you were occupied with the block I stole all your women.

Congats and condolences, my friend.

Oliva serie O and G and worth every penny and not too expensive, either.
Oliva V costs a bit more and are stronger but damn fine cigars, IMO.
Padron x000 gotta include these
