Why I haven't been my usual post whore self (I let Brickhouse take over temporarily), my main system has been down due to a lightning strike. It took out my server, my wife's computer, the coffee maker, a small stereo in the garage and 2 security lights. I've gotten everything fixed or replaced except for the computers and those are awaiting parts. I'm writing this on a cobbled together AMD 900 at the moment and that will be it until the new stuff arrives. Got the wife an AMD 3800+ with a GB of Ram and 256mb ATI video card while I am waiting on a Dual Opteron 246 MB and processors with 2GB for the server. Those Opterons are some really nice chips if you are looking for Server/Workstation CPU's.

Well, I was wondering. Hope you're up an running soon. Hell it's only money. It could have been worse.

Doc.

thank god! i thought you absconded the caol! get back on line, i'm missing the cigar girls!

Sorry to hear about the lightning. It sucks the big one, I personally know this because the house the wife and I were living in shortly after we got married was struck twice. Sucked big both times and our insurance agent just Loooooooooved us. Good thing for renter's insurance though. Low and behold we got struck "indirectly" about 1-1/2 year ago, house across the street took a hard hit and it traveled to us. It really messed that house up, I have never seen ceilings, walls and appliances literally blow out and up before.

Anyways, glad you are on the up and running side.

Thankfully it didn't hit the house but a power pole on the corner right off of my lot. Sure was loud though and it shook the house.

AVB, sorry to hear of your lightning strike, sounds like a good reason to "Up-Grade!

We've had our share of visits from the lightning gods. What amazed me was how some things were affected and some others were not affected. We had a refrigerator and a freezer plugged into the same outlet. The frig was totally toasted, the freezer never missed a stroke. On the Entertainment Center, connected 14 different ways to multiple electrical paths. And what was blown? a $5 muffin fan. This mysterious selection of components repeated throughout the house. Weird... ???

Hope you are back up 100%+ ASAP.
