In persuit of something more...

First off, I am jotting down everything you guys are inputting, great suggestions, great links, great ideas.

The location we are thinking of is indeed in Brooklyn, and this neighborhood we won't disclose for various reasons, and I suspect is related to how there ARE NO cigar lounges despite the big money that does roll through there. As stated earlier, we are just gathering ideas, producing an estimate, seeing what Government funding and private tobacco groups are providing grants to be applied to the said business. There seems to be a wealth of money being tossed out in NYC for new business owners, so funding isn't a main priority as obtaining spacious storefront is. Something tells my partner and I that this particular location is very hostile towards cigar/smoke lounges despite the numerous bodegas that sell cigars as well as the obviously affluent residential community.

Yes Dan, I don't like the feel of the Humidor either, very cliquey, although that is not neccessarily a bad thing, a more welcoming environment is always preferred. This will probably be an afterhours part-time lounge starting from the late afternoon (6ish) to midnight. We are still debating on what to include to sell as far as products go. Cigars are an obvious choice, acompaniments such as coffee and spirits will have to take a back burner; spirits especially as a liquor license can go for $$$$$$$$$$$$. However selling is our secondary focus, the idea of a spacious lounge comes first.

This came about after my co-worker and I went to Havana Dreams (after the LI Herf, sorry couldn't make it) and saw what a lounge could be (Did you know that Joe the owner is a boxing fan?). A very different feel from the Humidor and Velvet.

This sounds great. By the way Dave I think you might look into what is called a beer and wine licence, where you can serve beeer and wine but no hard liquor I think that one is easier to get and costs less
