FOGs are people just like everyone else. They are not infallable, they are not above the (CP) law, and they will get called out if it is needed.

Last week, I would have agreed with that. Now, I think that when dealing with the senior members of CPass, it's not "Thread Worthy". PM's are the way to deal with an issue. Newbies, suffice it to say, are fair game and totally subject to public flogging

Ok...first off, I did send Ludwig an email. I forget what day it was. Approxamately the 29th. I'm new. never really read the rules, learn as I go. I never admitted to anything suggesting multiple emails. I stated I emailed him. You know I did, but you called me a liar(sadly, that isn't true. I wasn't lying about that). You seem to be under the impression that I sent multiple, but it was singular.

Next...I am a hothead. And? I don't think you qualify as a mild mannered guy yourself. You seem just as much as a hothead as I am. We both need a Trigger to get our dander up, ie. my blanket statement condeming FOG's pissed you off. You calling me a POS pissed me off.

As far as my appologizing goes, you get what you get. I am truly sorry that I made you mad bill, but it was a sincere apology. Isn't that what you were trying o do anyways? I was just coming to the realization that there was a lesson in progress, but that last post was just mud slinging. I have come to know you ( through the vast number of PM's telling me that you are a standup guy) as a sort of Champion of CPass, you look after it like it was your baby.

Had a bit of a realization after reading some unfortunate threads today: When I first started reading Cigar BB's I saw quite a few "flame" wars going on. I came here because it didn't seem to be as much of an issue. Despite that, I was still a bit leary about posting. Was afraid I would say something that was taken the wrong way, and was afrad more seasoned members would jump all over me without having a good reason. I've only been a member here for a few weeks and have posted a little bit.

That worry is completely gone now! I now see that anyone who seems to be getting harrassed by FOGs or just members in general isn't getting that type of treatment for no reason. It seems to be relatively new members that are being worked over by other members in these threads and for some reason think that people have personal vendettas against them or something. Without even doing much research, I've finally realized that 99.9% of all of these flame wars are with people who are generally jerkoffs and take things too seriously (mainly themselves!)

I am a new guy here, know very little about cigars compared to many of the members here. If all these old guys are so vindictive and quick to harrass people, then how come I haven't been getting harrassed?

The answer is because there is no reason to be! I don't start **** with people, and although I still have a lot to learn around here, people are generally forgiving. Whether it's not being completely aware of BB etiquette or asking a dumb "newbie" question, people on this board are more than willing to point you in the right direction and any criticism that is given seems to be constructive! People don't look for ways to twist your words just so they can start something with you and oust you from the community. The only way to get people to jump down your throat is to provoke it intentionally!!! I have asked my share of "dumb" questions in my short time here, but everyone here seems to understand that I acknowledge the fact that I am new here and that I don't know every thing about cigars, and with that in mind, they have been more that receptive and helpful to me!

After only a couple weeks, I now realize that people who are getting "harrassed" by other members are quite deserving of it! This thread in particular (where they guy is trying to say that FOGs are deserving of newbie's trust) is a perfect example of how nothing bad happens on this board without a reason! Thankfully, in my short time here, my worries of saying the wrong thing and getting on the bad side of the FOGs have completely gone away. How come these people don't understand that just like in life, you reap what you sow! If you come here with good intentions you will be met with open arms into the community. If you come here acting like you know everything, and start bitching about the way things are run here, you are asking for trouble, and IMHO, you deserve anything you get!

Fortunately for me, I was able to realize this and didn't let these flame wars inhibit me from joining this board.

Hats off to the members here for keeping these jerks in check and maintaining the character of this board by putting these guys in their place!

Sorry for the rant, but I finally was able to see the root of these problems and realize that I have nothing to worry about when it comes to being a new member of this board.

Thanks to everyone on here who has helped me out with my newbie questions and more power to the member who are so vigilant at monitoring the occasional jerk that starts posting here.

This is a great board, and I've learned more here just by reading and asking questions in two weeks than I have in 2 years of smoking cigars!

But I'm just a newbie, so take all I've said for what it's worth. :whistling:

Still learning Bill. You're one helluva teacher. Atleast I won't make another foolish post again. Sometimes when you get a "subtle" hint, you overlook it. I think if you really drive home (like you have) It seems to stick better.

I've run my mouth off for the last time. Like I said earlier, I tend to over look the instruction and learn asI go. Foolish mistake on my part. If it wasn't for guys like you, I think that CPass would be in a much worse state (not saying that it's bad here). If it were not for you stepping up and showing me my error, I don't think I would have gleaned anything at all from my flub up.
