I have just upgraded from Airport Express to an Airport Extreme base station. This allows me to either use Wifi or Ethernet through the house, the Extreme is the main station and broadcasts its signal to the Expresses.

Is it better to use one or the other method, or makes no difference.

I welcome your input.

Thanks BOTL's

With an Extreme I see no need to even have the Express unless you have parts of the house that aren't reached by the Extreme.

Typical of me, I started azz backwards thinking economy, so I had the two expresses. Then I saw and read about the terrific dual channel on the Express (release 5) and thought I was missing something.

Having said that, would you connect with wifi or Ethernet?

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, wifi is your only option since there is no ethernet port on your ipad.

Inerzolite, that in itself is correct, iPad equals wifi. The hang up is that on the Express I can use if either / or, in other words, when I set it up, I can choose to broadcast via wifi, or I can choose Ethernet and send that signal to the Express. The iPad receives the signal either way. I think whati am wondering is if I supply it with a Ethernet signal, does it get down graded to Wifi, or am I giving it a more powerful signal to use?

I have a feeling I will be calling Apple support to get to the root of the question.

Thanks for the input.

Typo.

It doesn't matter what you choose the speed will only be as fast as the slowest device in the chain.
