The soldier didn't even know he was hit because his body armor actually stopped the round. The IPOD, however, wasn't so lucky.

I was about to make a joke about Apple covering it under warranty, then read this on the website:

I just got an email via flickr from an engineer at Apple. He showed the photos around the office and want to help get the guy a new iPod. So it's looking good that it will be replaced.

The myth always sounds much better than the truth. Good publicity for apple though.
