Iron Man

Ive been waiting for this movie since the rumors started about it back in like 2002 or whenever it was. It was soo worth the wait though. I went to see it here last night with a few of the guys from work that Im here in Boston with. It was a fantastic movie, one of the best Ive seen in a long time. It may be the best movie I see this year.

Now, I just need it on blu-ray now.

....whoops, you're right. But, the tease with "some dude" introducing himself as "Nick Fury" is definitely in there, after the last of the last of the credits. "Some dude"....no spoilers here.....

At least it's not David Hasselhoff, he starred in the 1998 made for TV version of Nick Fury agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. ...BTW, it sucked, IMHO!

Amen to that!!

went and watched it today, why oh why did they pick HIM to play Nick Fury? everyone stay and watch the scene after the credits. man that was the biggest let down in my opinion.

When, oh when, will there be a Sgt. Rock and Easy Co. movie. How I miss Ice Cream soldier and the rest

Add one more to the "this is a great flick" list. The wife, my two sons, and I went this afternoon and all loved it. I was expecting the action, but the humor was a pleasant surprise.

Got to see it last night at the drive in. Thought it might not be as good since I wasn't in the super HD mega theather or whatever they call it. But I loved it. Knew nothing about the plot going in, made it more interesting.

Jack,
Without a doubt you grew up at a time when Marvel comics was truly the House of Ideas brimming with amazingly talented artists AND writers ! I can't even imagine going to the drug store to purchase books with artists such as Kirby (doing the Captain America art in TOS), and having Don Heck and later Gene Colan doing the Iron Man stories.... all for freakin 12 cents a piece? My lord... what a run you must have!

As one jr geek to a true king of comic collecting is concerned: I'm not worthy!

did you keep those bad boys in mylars and backing boards?

Here's to youth!

Darren

Without a doubt, my all time favorite "Super Hero"!

Have the complete set from T.O.S. #39, up through The Invincible Iron Man #130, all purchased from news stands.
Lord, am I a geek, or what ... lol!

Looking forward to seeing the movie tonight with the Mrs.!

Absolutely.... the new Hulk will be great. Norton as Banner? Damn good scoring an amazing actor such as Norton, much like scoring Downey as Stark.

Live action Avengers movie? Oh lord, they just HAVE to do it! So many Avengers, though, makes me wonder who they'll pick for the line up. I'd love the Avengers story line to include the now classic story of finding Captain America frozen in ice. Then, spin off a movie of Captain America!

As for the live action JLA, my brother in law (who is a screenwriter in Hollywood) told me that it was talked about at one of the latest Cons (whether it was San Diego or maybe NYC). The idea that they would NOT use a top tier actor to portray one of the superheros was broached. I like that idea, personally.

We saw Iron Man yesterday afternoon, and loved it! Robert Downey was a perfect Tony Stark.

As for the Hulk, Edward Norton as Bruce Banner this time is a better fit IMO.

I read somewhere a month ago that Downey is making a cameo as Stark in the new Hulk movie (previews for that & Batman look good!!), supposedly paving the way for a live-action Avengers movie in the future!! Don't know if that's true, but I hope so.

Also a rumor floating around that there is a script for a live-action Justice League, hopefully using the current Batman & Superman actors. That'd be cool too.

Yeah baby! Make this one into a movie!!!

Oh, by the way, I'd say the Justice League sequel rumor is lots more than a rumor. Stick around until after the credits...all the credits:

".....I'm Nick Fury....."....not telling who it is...... :whistling:

Cheers, guys - B.B.S.

Got your comic book universes a bit confused ...lol! Justice League would be DC (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, etc.), while The Avengers (Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, etc.) is in The Marvel Universe.

Told you I was an old comic book geek!

Thats what I'm talking about... bring back "The Haunted Tank" while your at it as well.

I loved Iron Man. I knew nothing about the comic book though. Do you (people who have read the Iron Man comics) think that the Iron Man movie did justice to the comic books?

Also, I would love to see a Captain America movie, but I don't think they would do it justice. His costume would look silly these days.

Pete, all of my comics are stored in mylar bags with non-acidic backer boards, and in non-acidic boxes. Although I must admit, until I got to college, and realized what they were worth, the majority of them sat in cardboard boxes in my parent's basement for years, but all seem to be OK! And all that 12 cents a book shows is how old I am ... lol! There was a cigar store, Reark's, in my hometown that had 2 racks of comics, one for the DC books, and another for the Marvel books. Every Saturday I would stop in to see what new books had come in, and blow most of my allowance on new comics. Since he knew I was an Iron Man and Spiderman fan, he would always set aside the latest issues of each of those titles for me, as well as hold out any new comic from Marvel for me, as he knew I was a sucker for their books!!

KayakinBoy, Iron Man stuck pretty much to the original comic book, although, originally, it was set in Viet Nam, but to update things to Afganistan was a good move to keep it contemporary. Although for years in the book he kept his identity secret and was always portrayed as Tony Stark's bodyguard. The only character the movie did not develope, who was a pretty big part of the early comics, was Happy Hogan, Stark's chauffeur, but that's what sequels are made to do!!

Seeing as Sgt. Fury was a WWII vet, who went on to become the Direcor of S.H.E.I.L.D., I am sure they will modernize that legend as well, as I think a 95 year old action hero, Rambo notwithstanding, would be a bit of a stretch!

Do you think they will do anything with Rhodes & War Machine?

He did look at the grey suit and said (or I thought he said) "next time".

Just saw this!! Linky

LOS ANGELES — This weekend was just the beginning of Hollywood's Iron age.

Marvel Studios announced Monday it will release "Iron Man 2" on April 30, 2010, following the success of the first in the comic-book franchise, which pulled in $104.2 million domestically since opening last Thursday and $201 million worldwide.

Four other films based on Marvel superheroes also were announced: "Thor," due out June 4, 2010; "The First Avenger: Captain America," May 6, 2011; "The Avengers," July 2011; and "Ant-Man," which is in development but has no release date.

Marvel also has "The Incredible Hulk," starring Edward Norton, coming out this June 13 from Universal Studios.

Just as Downey's character, Tony Stark, makes an appearance in next month's "The Incredible Hulk," the Hulk could turn up in "Iron Man 2," Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel said during a conference call to discuss the company's earnings. And "The Avengers" consists of a rotating roster of Marvel heroes — including original members Iron Man, the Hulk, Ant-Man and Thor — that could see the return of virtually any of the franchise's characters.
