I was researching reviews ofthe Balvenie Signature & read someone saying they heard it was being discontinued. I called all over Washington DC and found only 1 store had any left. I found some Batch 4 at a store in NJ online & bought the remaing stock of 17. I really enjoyed the Founders Reserve 10 year and heard this was similar. Has anyone heard about the Signature being discontinued?

I will navigate to there and do so. Bear with me as i'm new a this....

Welcome to CP! We have several retailers who frequent here, so I'm sure one of them will chime in shortly if they know the answer.

I'm usually pretty good with Balvenie info and I haven't heard of it being discontinued but that doesn't mean it will still be sold in the US. I think it is closer to the DoubleWood then the Founder's Reserve which has been discontinued The FR was a 10 yo first fill bourbon casking, the Signature is a first fill bourbon, refill bourbon and first fill sherry casking and lastly the DoubleWood is a first fill bourbon and first fill sherry casking.

You really bought 17 Signatures at once? There are so many interesting things out there to try.

I did. I am a man of bad habits when I find something I like. Although, I did take a leap of faith on this one. I had actually bought a lot of the more popular brands over the past 3 months although I have only sampled a few so far: I have in collection varying vintages of Glenfarclas, Ardberg Uigeadail & 10yr, Talisker, Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Glendronach, Lagavulin, Caol Ila, Aberlour a'Bunadh Batch 41, Tomatin, JW Green & Gold, & Laphroaig. I realized I really enjoyed the Balvenie vintages the best o the bunch so, I took a chance I'd enjoy the Signature. Although, I must say I really didn't enjoy the Doublewood as much as the Carribean and 10yr FR. I thought the Signature was desirable nad may become collectible simply by its scarcity everywhere. It was only sold in a few stores online and almost nowhere in the DC area. I found it only in one store of the several I called in the DC area. So, I thought I'd stock up, as i did on the 10yr FR. You don't even wanna know how many of those I bought:)
Anyway, I may have wasted money it sounds like. I was afraid to experiment again given my earlier foray into purchasing the Laphroaigs & Caol Ila made me realize i am not a peat/smokey scotch guy. So I hope these are as enjoyable as the Carribean Cask or close to it. I have read mixed reviews on it. We'll see. I will give some feedback upon receipt and first dram.

We will see. I luclook forward to that myself. I just hope whatever cigar it is ends up being a good one:)

Considering they made a few thousand of each of the Signature batches it will be a few decades before they are collectable and even then it will be Batch One more then any of the others.

If you need to get rid of those smokey/peaty ones........

Thanks for the info. I am on the first bottle and it is not that bad. I enjoyed the Carribean cask the most of the bunch though so, I guess I am a fruity sweet scotch guy. If you are interested in the peaty ones, I wouldn't mind parting with them at a fair price and at a reduction from what I paid. I am happy to part with the Lagavulin 16yr ($62), Adberg 10 yr old ($56), Ardbeg Uigeadail ($90), Glenlivet 15 yr old ($60), Glenfiddich 18 yr old I litre ($80), and Laphroig Quarter cask ($52). The listed are the prices I paid for them. Let me know if you may be interested.
