Is this Nicotine?

OK..for starters cigar was great...but this is not a review. Ther first 1/3 was fine. The start of the 2/3 on this huge cigar I noticed the smoothness leaving and a slightly bitter powerfull taste arriving. I also noticed the inside of the cap where I cut it was getting wet small brown spots the size of a BB. When I put my thumb on the spots I got browns stains on my thumb that were a little sticky. Those spots I believe caused the taste I describe above.

Was this nicotine oozing through the end or something else..?..like the cigar maybe being a little young..wish I took some pictures but I didn't.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Sounds like tar. I didn't have any tar issues and I smoked three already, and I am a chomper . Did you cut or punch.

Tar build up, for sure. The reason I don't use a punch. Get a tiny speck of that on your tounge and "bitter" is all you'll taste for a while.

As has been mentioned, it sounds like tar. If it happens in the future, recut your cigar just a little bit, and you'll probably be fine. Nasty stuff...

I'd like to think I didn't get the smoke to hot but can this be caused by drawing to frequently without the cigar cooling , or does it just happen sometimes?

Interesting comment. I've never used a punch but a lot of guys do. Why do you think it would differ, the head is open with both!

My guess would be that with a punch, the area for smoke to come out is more "funneled" or concentrated, as opposed to a cut which usually leaves a larger opened area.

I'm thinking why this happens more often with torpedo/belicoso's as well.

Drawing the smoke out of a small area tends to have something to do with it.

Channeling of smoke is more concentrated when you use a punch.

....exactly. That's why I use a cutter and not a punch. Also, I really "open up" the end of beli's (to at least 10mm or so) before I smoke them. Draw is better and it greatly minimizes the chance for a tar attack.....

I don't know why it's different, but I've had more tar issues when punching cigars, too. Stopped using them entirely.

I guess I've been lucky so far. I punch all my non-torpedo, non-belicoso cigars. No tar attacks yet. <finger's crossed>

How fast you smoke your cigars can also have a efffect on tar buildup. Slow down and let them burn a little before puffing away. No fun in rushing the experience.
