I have a tendency to go a tiny bit overboard with my hobbies. My wife likes to call them "my obsessions" and I find it very hard to disagree with here. (I'm sure many here know what I'm talking about.)
I think it was Hunter S Thompson who said, "once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can."
I knew I was on a slippery slope after re-discovering cigars a few months ago, and I knew I was starting to slip when I found cigarpass (internet forums are like gasoline to the fires of "my obsessions.") I think I've received a package every other day for the past week. My humidor went from a couple of LGCs to bursting-at-the-seams full in the span of 3 weeks.
But there were two important Rubicons that I still had before me: Buying by the box and bidding on auctions. I figured I would be safe on the box-buying front as long as I didn't breakdown and build a coolerdor and I slated my hunger with 5ers. I would rein-up before crossing the treacherous waters of buying-at-auction by not even visiting cigarbid or yahoo or anywhere else with “lots” instead of shopping carts.
That didn't last too long, and I found myself looking over the "quickie" auctions a cbid.
Then I created an account.
"I just want to see what the user interface is like."
Then I saw an auction for an Otterbox 5-stick case.
"I need one of those... I'll just see hoe the bidding works. I'm sure I'll be outbid."
"Oh! Look at that Ghurka Perferido! MSRP for $30? I'll just bid $11 on the off chance..."
Fast forward a few hours and I get an email informing me I've won both lots. $27 shipped. So I'm pretty happy about the score, but pretty scared about what it means for my (wife’s) sanity and my checkbook.
Anybody want to split a box of Hoyo Espressos?
