It's a tragedy for sure. We were discussing the "correct" thing to do in that situation. My thoughts were that if you are stranded in the wilderness, you should stay together. BUT, after some time, you may need to try to help yourself (assuming you are knowledgable enough to navigate with some inteligence).

If you are are stranded on the road, the chances of running into a passing auto is much greater. You should stay together and not leave the car.

Mute point, you need to do what is right, and it doesn't change this situation. Just curious for the "what if's" would happen to me or others.

My heart goes out to them.

I grew up playing in those mountains. Not a friendly place for the unprepared. Seems every couple of years someone takes the wrong road and gets lost. Wish they would post some better signs in the area.
