Posted here instead of Review so others won't have a problem commenting on the merits of bothering with these sticks. There have been a number of worthy threads recently and not so recently that I've read after searching "bundle". There are two JR Alts that stood out, so I bought a bundle of each.

JR Sancho Panza Belicoso (26.95) and JR Bolivar Corona ($20.95) bundles arrived just a few days ago. Since, I've smoked two of each and had good experiences with both - especially the SP. Construction was acceptable, and as The Master commented, quite rugged (though I don't play golf). Flavor was good and I find that these are acceptable daily smokes. At a buck each, they're an exceptional value. I've also got and regularly smoke the Connie #9. I wonder what other JR or other bundle you've experienced on a regular basis.

I've had the JR Alt Cohiba Sublime and I thought it was incredible for the price. Obviously nothing compared to a real Cohiba Sublime but strictly evaluating as a $2 smoke, cant get much better.

I've never had any luck with these. They all taste like straw to me. And I can't imagine that Harris (The Master) would smoke these, even on the golf course.

I'm glad you found a cheap stick that you like, though. Every man should have one. I have had better luck with the Connies than the Alts.

Damned glad you qualified that. :)

My palate is years away from Harris' For now, I'm cool with slumming for a while. I'm glad we have the Connies in common. Jim, if you haven't tried these two JRs, PM me your addy and I'll send you a couple. You might like them.

NullSmurf, I have never smoked the JR Alternatives. I smoke the JR Ultimates. These are a much better cigar than the Alternatives, and not that much more money. My favorite Ultimates are the Cetros in double maduro. They are 69.95 fora box of 25.For less than 3 bucks a stick they are a great golf course cigar.

Since I'm in my impressionist, er maduro phase, I think I'll give em a shot.

I’ve always wanted to try the JR alternatives but it seems 1 bundle out of 10 contain cigars that are worthwhile smoking. At the price of the extra bundles and wanting to unload them on someone, I find it’s easier to wait for a good deal on good sticks. JR Ultimates I cant comment about, I was gifted a few, haven’t gotten around to trying them.

I always have a few boxes of the Ultimates around. For the money--real tough to beat. Golf gar, yard gar, might have to put it down and run gar....
Now, the alternatives...I have smoked 2, and was not pleased either time. Isn't it great when you find a cheap stick that does it for you?

Ya well, don't be cuttin' off your friggen ear to prove your love for the damn things.

Doc.

smoke less, smoke better

If you want a great golf course cigar... try the 5 packs of Montesino Gran Corona Maduros(6.75x48) from JR... $12.75. Where you gonna get a Fuente made long filler Churchill for $2.55 per. The Montesino No.2 maduros(6.25x44) are $10.50 per 5pk.

Thank you for the offer, NullSmurf. Please save them and include them in your next bomb/gift/etc, or smoke 'em up! I actually have a few Alts kicking around that I don't know what to do with. Again, I appreciate the offer.

As I said, it is great to find a cheap cigar you like! For me, it is the JR Ultimates. I agree with many of the assessments here; you just can't beat them for a three dollar stick.
