Just got Laid Off

Officially Friday is my last day. I was a consultant for Sun Microsystems, then when Oracle took over the consultant company that I was working for didn't make a good enough bid to stay with Oracle, so we got the axe.

And with me being in school, finding a job that will work around your school schedule (and still pay well) is almost impossible. At least I will be able to claim unemployment for a while, not that I really like doing that though...

I had a bit of good karma today, one of my old employers (good friend) called this afternoon and was wondering if I was interested in doing some side work for him, he had no idea that I was getting laid off. It will only be for about 6 weeks, but at least it's money coming in.

Sorry to hear that you got laid off, but the temporary gig was fortuitous. Six more weeks of income and buys you time to land another gig. Given your background and experience, I would imagine there would be quite a bit of demand for someone with your experience. Persevere and I'm sure your search will be promising. Good luck.
