Just got my first Humi....question

Just got a cheap Humi from an online special...I wiped down the inside with distilled water and soaked the humidifier in the distilled water for a min or 2. Is it supposed to stay wet or not?

Congrats. You don't want it dripping. But if it was me I would throw it away and get some of vipers beads. Only way to go..

Well first you need to salt test your hygrometer to find out how accurate it is. Then when you notice the RH dropping just add water, make sure it is distilled. OR just get some of viper's beads, trust me throw that junky foam thing in the trash. Go for the beads.

Your hygrometer will be your best guide once you salt test it and see how accurate it is. Don't get too spun up over a degree or two of RH changes. After I mist my beads my humis will climb up to 68-ish and I let them coast back down to 63-ish before I mist again. Usually two+ months between recharges.

Beads, my friend - beads..... :thumbs: Really takes the headache out of humi maintenance.... Viper will hook you up with a solid product and customer service that's second to none.

Also...to really get things to stabilize takes time. Patience will pay off here in spades.

I know it might look like your question didn't exactly get answered (which it didn't!) but there really is a good reason for this. The humidifier that comes with all but the high-end humi's are kinda garbage. Even some pretty high end boxes don't include wonderful stuff. The beads are so easy, and keep a box so well humidified, that there just really isn't any reason not to use them. To top it all off, they aren't expensive.
All of the above goes equally well for the Puck!

i just bought some of the beads, and they work great. I hightly recommend them.

edit: oh and they are pretty cheap too.
