I'm a total newb here, and to cigars too (only smoking for about a year), but In my short time I've noticed something.

Y'all are just about the most generous group of people I've ever encountered. Everyone is always gifting each other, holding contests, going out of their way to pick up something that someone else cant find locally, all sorts of things. There is some pretty damn great generosity and comradery here.

Hell, even I was gifted a 5er just for being a newb and making a post at the right moment. I mean, the fact that someone was willing to hand some sticks to a total stranger solely for the sake of helping out a newb is pretty amazing to me. (Thanks again, Dsav101)

I'm just sayin I think it's great that y'all do this for each other, I havent noticed alot of rivalry or elitists or flaming on this board, like alot of others out there.

I plan on stickin around here for a while, and sometime, once I have the means, I will be more than sure to pay it forward, many times over.

You've all truly impressed me. In a world where it seems that the only way to get ahead is by thinking about only yourself, it's very refreshing to see a place like this.

We have our fair share of arguments, flame wars and disagreements, but you are correct... the overwhelming generosity and brotherhood here on CP is amazing. :thumbs:
 
Yeah, i cant wait to get in on a pass, but I missed the newbie ones that were just open, so I'm a waitin.

I also cant wait to contribute to others as they have to me, sharing is fun, but i dont exactly have a "collection" of cigars. Gotta start building that (damn tuition and supplies for architecture class for stealing all my money [well, I suppose the jeep is pretty thirsty too]).

So, yeah, hopefully I'll become known as one of the regulars around here. I'm still learning, and want to keep learning for a long time.

I've almost been here a year and I'm still working on that collection as well. It was going pretty well, and then Thing 2 came along. Now daycare is $450 a week. Yeah, a f'n week.

Anyway, CP is awesome. The culture here is based on respect, generosity and PIF. The resources are infinite. The FOGS are... well they're ok. :D
 
That was the first thing I noticed about this place and I am glad you are experiencing it as well. There are a lot of great communities out there, but the overall brotherhood and sense of selflessness I saw here sealed the deal for me. Oh and Hawks brother Dennis is an asshole too..
 
See, that's the difference between this and most (not all) other cigar boards. THe majority here are not only here for information but for developing friendships, HERFing with fellow CPers, and sharing their love of the leaf with others. It's not called a brotherhood for nothing. Once you understand this, you will also begin to understand why people are called out (and run off the board if need be).
 
Yes it is truly amazing here at CP. It has allowed me to continue old friendships from afar and make new ones as well as find a group of incredible S/BOTLs to hang out with from time to time (well ok, most of the time). SteveHawk was not framed, I've seen pictures and I think there is a video out there. You've been a great addition to the community from what I've seen so far, continue as I'm sure you will. I'll be in Vegas soon with some BOTLs so we'll get together for a smoke.
 
Way to 'say' it Andrew. I too am a newbie here and yet a BOTL offered to do a box split with me. He's bought it and I've sent the check for my half. Very trustful on both our parts. :) I'm learning and enjoying my time here too!

Yah, and sorry to make the gushy sentimental thread, but It just amazes me to see all the kindnesses done to others around here.

As I said before, it's good to see there are still kind, helpful and generous people out there, in a world where it seems nobody ever thinks of others.

That being said, I'm off to the wonderful UNLV dining commons (which is only running half-assed because only RA's are here, not residents) and then probably try out the Fuente Candela (Claro?) that I bought the other day
 
Dr M I couldnt agree more. I am a noob as well. The little time I have been here I have seen so much generosity and help. I look forward to becoming an old timer.
 
They don't call it the Brother of the Leaf for nothing. CP is just one of the finest examples of that. I, too, am a newb and am fully appreciating the work of everyone on these forums; especially the FOGs.
