We have had a big ( 40+ people ) party for the Derby for the past 5 years - Lots of Food, Alcohol, Cigars and Card Playing - Ladies all wear their hats. I like Sweetnorthernsaint this year - Anyone else have parties or picks for the Derby? Looks like this year may be our 1st bad year for weather. Here is hoping the weatherman are wrong, as usual. :whistling:

Edit for weather update - Looks like sunny and 62* - We will have the fire pits going full force - Alcohol flowing and hopefully will have Sweetnorthernsaint running 1st across the finish line. $ 50.00 to win

I don't keep up with the horse races much, but I have seen Lawyer Ron run this year and he was pretty impressive. I think he has won 5-6 straight races. If I was a betting man, which I am, my money would be on him.

Me and my parents are heading down to Cincinnati for a party. It's a party hosted by my parents friends, and they have a party every year. Plan on smoking a few cigars and hopefully find a nice cigar shop down there. My dad's friend used to smoke cigars, so he should know a good place down there. Not sure who I am better on yet, but I will find some horse.

My party is at the track, will be out there Friday for Oaks and Saturday for the Derby. So far Sinister Minister looked Damn good in the Bluegrass. Won't know for sure until I see the form tomorrow afternoon. Most of my picks for the Derby are 50-50. 50% stats and 50% gut feeling.

If you get a "hot" tip, be sure to post it here - I will check up until 5:30 on Saturday - Have a great time - Also, if you have a tip for the Oaks and the race before the Derby, let me know that too. Good Luck

man, im so jealous of you ky guys.
Well I plan on smoking a certain Padron Millenium at the Derby. Thanks Mark

I usually get some tips but the last one that I had that came in was Charismatic and that came from D. Wayne Lukas himself (paid a bundle). This year we got some hellacious speed in the race so look for a closer like last year. I think you will see someone hang back and eat them up through the third and Fourth. The question is, Who is that someone?

Hmmm ... I would have NEVER guessed you liked the Kentucky Derby!!! :whistling: :whistling:

Can't say that I ever watch horse races, but it sounds like fun.

I have it from the horse's mouth.

Although a bad post position, the 3 to 1 favorite Brother Derek
will win and could go down in history as the Triple Crown winner!

I think the pace will get him. They will get him out early in that position. I am looking at late runners like A.P. Warrior (good odds) Barbaro, or Point Determined. But if I was any good at picking them I wouldn't have to have a day job. LOL

Right, he is a front runner. It will depend on how much energy he exerts to
get to the front from the bad post position. If good, he will dictate the pace.

:whistling: Looks like I'm buyin' dinner tonight!

My rockabilly band, Tweed Schade & The Sugardaddies (www.tweedschade.com) just played a Derby party at a cool old mansion in Morristown, NJ.
Food, booze (good bourbons) and ladies with fancy hats on, dancin' up a storm and fallin' on their asses and gettin' carted out!
Great party!
No money on any ponies though.
