I just finished passing my fourth stone this week. I had my first one in '97. If you have never had them, it is a horrible pain, that I would wish on no one.

I hope I do not pass anymore. The doctor did say that I have about 15 or so in my kidneys waiting to drop.

Me too... That was a trip!!! Fortunately for me I passed it fairly quickly... But I do like the drugs they give you to make you feel better!!!

eating and drinking foods that make your urine slightly acid is supposed to help... if you have calcium stones (the most common type) ie cranberry juice
double you water intake and usually you will avoid most future stones.

1. My urologist says that cranberry juice is useless. Just increase your fluid (preferably plain water) intake. Your peepee should be nearly clear. If it's not, you're not drinking enough (water, that is).

2. My treatment of choice is the ER and a Demerol shot; relaxes you enough to pass the damn thing, and you don't feel it. Or you don't care, I can't remember which.
You do get nasty looks from the ER staff until they get to know you, kidney stones being the favorite complaint of junkies.

3. If you end up with a 10 mm whopper like my last one, you go in for lithotripsy and make your urologist and the local surgery center wealthier. :(

(Four stones in the last 4 years; I'm beginning to think I should decide on an anniversary date. :( :angry2: )

my baby bro had passed a few a couple of years back...finally revenge for all the years he tormented me! hahahahahahahahahahaha! no really, i did feel bad for him and all the pain.... :whistling: :whistling:

When my doctor told me "If you think this pain is bad you should try giving birth" I had a whole different appreciation for the mother's of my children.

There's not a person here who wouldn't benifit from drinking more water daily.

My update....

Had to have surgery yesterday. Lithotripsy. Now I am sore as hell. But at least the stones are not moving and are dust.

I am much more aware of my stone situation now.

Thanks for the guys who PM'ed me.
