Received a bunch of La Gloria Cubana's at the Big Smoke a few months ago. Decided to fire one up tonight. For a "Big Smoke" smoke, this one actually wasn't all that bad. Cigar lit quite easily. It was producing some spice for the first 8 minutes or so. Then it began to mellow out, and I tasted some light raw tobacco flavor, some earth tones. Just a mellow cigar the rest of the way through. It produced a ton of smoke. Draw was a bit too easy. It burned very evenly, only touched it up once. About 2/3 of the way through it began to taste a bit chemically. I blew the smoke through the cigar to clean it out, and it began to smoke pretty good again.

I give it a 82 on appearance and construction.

84 on burn quality.

75 on taste.

Not bad for a yard gar. Wouldn't smoke it at a herf, but will smoke it while working outside. It didn't produce much of a flavor for me, yet offered some tastes which I could appreciate. Overall, this is definitely one of the better cigars I picked up at the Big Smoke. A great stick for a newbie cigar smoker.

Overall, I give it a 78%.

I smoke the LGC Wavell maduro regularly. I like it. Don't like the natural at all. Which did you smoke?

Doc.

Sounds a lot like a Serie R #7 I had a while back. What vitola was it Rod?

I haven't been overly impressed by anything of LGC. I do enjoy the Felicias though.

Thanks for the review, I'll mark it down as one not to smoke

This must be one of the few you prefer in Maduro Doc, as I recall, you don't favor Maduro.

That's true, it's one of the few. But since I mentioned that, in a series of posts, a while back, that ogre and all-round A-hole, samclemmons, saw fit to change my mind.

Doc.

The Wavell in maduro has always been one of my favorites. I usually age them an extra year in my cabinet. They do get much better with some extra aging.

I used to enjoy many of the LGC line when I 1st started getting serious about cigars. Now I pretty much only like the Reserva Figurados Flechas Especiales. I actually need to find another box of those.

The Serie R #5 Natural from LGC are very good... one of my favorites. I need to pick up some more of them to make sure I still like them... ;)

Nice review.

x2. Actually, when it comes to the regular line of LGC, the maduros are all I smoke. But, as Doc mentioned, the Wavells are excellent. One of my favorite little LGC maddie sticks, and you can pick up a box for a damn decent price.
