I picked up this book over the week end. If you like to drink, I think you'd enjoy it. It's amazing how much people used to drink. Way more than today. One of the interesting things I've found out so far is that mixed drinks weren't common before Prohibition. They became popular because the booze tasted so bad.:laugh: I've only got two chapters into it. There are some crazy characters so far, and they're the teetotalers.

So their contention is that today's booze isn't as good as the pre-Prohibition stuff? Man, of all the tasty bourbon I've had, I really want to try "the good stuff". Doc, did you save any bottles? :)
 
That's a lot of money for 200ml., but I'm interested. You ever drink any pre-prohibition rye, Ray and what's your opinion on the Whiskey, price and seller.

I've had pre-prohibition rye and bourbon and most were very good but there were some dogs in there to. Ya never know until you open it. The price is outrageous for a 200 ML IMO but it is selling so I must be in the minority. As far as the seller goes, there isn't anything bad out there on them and they do seem to be selling things as advertised.
 
$195 for 200mls doesn't seem bad too me, we have some members selling $400+ single cigars... I'm just saying... :whistling:
 
I don't see that as expensive myself. But then again I drop serious coin for a Opus X CFCF box and its just 22 cigars. So $220 for 200mL is cheap. Considering how little I drink any more. I still have the bottle of Russian Vodka I picked up in Moscow back in 2008 and its barely under half gone. :laugh:

Those rates are as of May and they aren't dynamic links. £140 at today's rate is about $219.

Ray, how would they go about guaranteeing the provenance of this stuff? It seems to me it would be rather easy, if one was of the mind to, to pour a recent bourbon into an old bottle. But considering the amount of money I drop on boxes of Padron 2000, I wouldn't blink twice at buying three or four cases of this stuff. :sign:
 
The provenance of the carboys is pretty well documented. What they do for the 200ml bottles I don't know. Perhaps you can email them and find out for the rest of us.
