Leonard Nimoy, Spock of ‘Star Trek,’ dead at 83

A character of our lifetimes, who will never be replicated. Quinto does good, but can't beat the original.

Feels like my whole childhood's dying, one hero at a time, these last few years.   :(

Boldly go, Mr. Nimoy.  Boldly go.

I know what you mean. This one strikes close to home, for some reason.

"The rainbow comes and goes,
And lovely is the rose;
The moon doth with delight
Look round her when the heavens are bare;
Waters on a starry night
Are beautiful and fair;
The sunshine is a glorious birth;
But yet I know, where'er I go,
That there hath pass'd away a glory from the earth."

Spock was my very first personal hero.

Of all the souls I've encountered throughout the Galaxy, his was the most -- human. Live long and prosper, Leonard.

That's just beautiful.  Shakespeare?

Worth a read, if you sometimes get melancholy about the passing of your youth.

I did not know he was sick.  I guess by nature of his final Twitter communication, he knew that the end was near.  He was an icon as a character and as a human being.
