OK I will be Mr. Negative on this. It smells of Favre sliding into Strahan for a record breaking "sack". It's contrived, fake and without honor IMHO.
Merits should be used to set a record otherwise all that was accomplished is you set an agenda. Alright, this is me jumping off my soapbox.

What does that mean? ???

It means that if you try and plan to all be online at a certain date and time simply to break this "record", it is not a real record because it has been planned in advance.

All this will do is set a precedent for others to start new threads trying to get people on board to be online at a specific date and time in order to break the previous "record".

The record of 600 users online might or might not be broken, but if it IS broken, it should be because something of significance happened or out of pure chance, not by planning in advance.

The record of 600 users online isn't a real record to begin with, because the overwhelming majority of the 600 were bots. Since then, Rod has worked some computertastic type magic and eliminated them for the most part to speed up the site.

Please educate this newb. What's a "bot"? Some kind of robot program?

A bot is a computer program that does automated tasks. In the case of the forum, I'm not sure what they were doing, I wasn't a member back then. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they were set to log in accounts to break the record, but it could have been any number of other things.
