Caution!!

Ok whiny Girl Alert!!

I am in so much pain I can hardly open my mouth!!! ( ok I can hear the snickes and cheers )
The pain is SOO FREAKIN bad I clench my jaw which aggravates my TMJ-
My throat aches and the side of my cheek is swollen. Yeah, like I need bigger cheeks
My WISDOM TEETH ARE COMING IN!! (WAHAHAH!!!)
What is worse is that I can't take any pain killers because the will knock me on my arse and as a single mom-I am sure you can understand when I say that may cause a scene of "Lord Of The Flies"
( me passed out and the kids maniacally plotting against one another )

I am now throwing together a soup for dinner.

My only consolation is that tomorrow I see the dentist-

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth come in when i was 14. I feel your pain. Oh do I...That was a rough period of time. :( Hope things get better.

I feel for you, my wife has had TMJ a couple of times in the past. She could barely talk let alone eat. She was in pretty much constant pain throughout. Hopefully the dentist will be able to get you sorted out. Best of luck!

I sympathize. Damn wisdom teeth can make your toes hurt. Try oil of cloves if over the counter pain killers don't work.

Doc.

I had a root canal today. Fortunately I can take my pain medicine. I have another one scheduled for Thursday.

I know what you are going through.

Good luck with that. I just had all four pulled out at one time in July. Since they were all impacted, it was quite painful. In order to get the upper left tooth out, the Dr had to break it and go way up in the sinus. I later got an infection in my cheek which is extremely rare. Had to have surgery in my mouth, had my cheek split open and he had to scrap out the infection. Very strange feeling. Had a drain put in for two days. That was about a month ago. I'm finally healed. Only took 4 months. I don't regret having them out. Less headaches now, and my mouth doesn't feel cramped.

I chose to be knocked out during the surgery. Laughing gas is a joke (no pun intended). Didn't do anything to me except make my throat feel tingly. I had the full IV sedation. That knocked me out. Woke up half way through and heard a loud crunching sound. That was the tooth that was way up near my sinus being crushed. Was on Vicodyn for a few days, it really makes a difference.

Anyway, hope I didn't scare you. It's amazing how fast the mouth heals. After a week you'll be completely healed and you'll be able to eat anything you want. Assuming you don't get an infection, but that's rare... I saved my teeth, I'll try and post a picture of them later. :)

I had my 4 impacted wisdom teeth extracted in boot camp. I was awake through just about the whole thing. I received a local, a big fat Darvocet, and the NO2 gas. I won't give you the details but it was 2nd worst expierience of my life. Not too far behind my knee surgery.

Yeah- no fear here - nope none!

* BULL@!#Y^&*(#$*
My first experience to a dentist was a champus dentist in Sabana Seca, PR. All of you service men should know what I am talking about- I hated it- Instilled the fear of the dentist chair BIGTIME!!!

I am just goin in for the consult to see what it will entail-
My EX ( Hi E!! ) is taking me for the proceedure for support to make sure I actually show which, I think is very thoughtful of him. I have to be sedated anytime I go in and don't normally go back to my bushytailed self until after a day

I second the IV sedation. Demand it. I only had to have one removed. He put in the IV, said "OK, after I inject this, in 10 seconds you'll be out". Last thing I remember is him saying that and waking up in the recovery room. Not even entirely sure how I got home (I don't remember my wife driving me home or walking up 3 flights of stairs). When I was finally coherent, I was in bed (hey, how did my clothes get off?)

Seriously, it's good stuff...

I found chewing on an asprin helped lessen the pain when I had an infection in my impacted wisdom tooth a couple years ago. Tase was nasty, but the relief lasted a while until I got to the dentist.

I feel for you Cheekie... Mine came in growing sideways instead of up and they were under the skin so they had to put me out and then chisel them into small pieces and then remove them :(

I hope everything goes well for you. If you need any help, I am just a few hours North of you :p

I will actually be in your town soon!!!

Thanks all you guys!
- For all the well wishes and sympathy. I would smile, but it hurts to freaking much!
Shiba- I will certainly keep your offer in mind :)

Oh, lordy, do I remember getting my wisdom teeth yanked from my head. Those little bastards (all 4 of them!) didn't want to leave the confines of their warm cozy environment. It got so bad that I swear the dentist was going to dig the heel of his shoe in my face for more leverge, and yank with both hands!!! no lie!! I was shot up so much (but still feeling what Rod explained as that "crunching" sound) that when asking for another shot the dentist told me that any more would cause swallowing to become difficult. YIKES!!!

I went home with a boatload of antibiotics and one hell of a killer headache!

But that doesn't compare to the kidney stones... now, let me tell YOU about pain! I think I can commiserate with Rod about that lovely little pill Vicodin. When you have a knife, which had been severely heated to a red hot consistency, jabbed in your side and twisted for, oh lets just say 3 days straight, Vicodin becomes your god. It was mine and I couldn't have survived without it.

Sorry for the thread jacking... I got a little carried away with the stories.

Ahem, disregard my rambling... you'll be fine. Honest injun! :whistling:

Warm and fuzzy,
Darren

PT-
I know the pain of kidney stones- childbirth w/ o drugs- broken bones- I have a high pain tolerance which some may find slightly disturbing-
Hell on a recent date I rolled my ankle to the point it audibly popped, my date looked at me and say " come on hun, let's ice that" I rolled it again, popped it again, and shook it off to continue the night bowling!". I limped a lil- but hell beers and bowling -
I am such a wuss when it comes to a toothache...

Well, look on the bright side....your new nickname could be "chipmunk cheeks" for a few days after surgery....

Sorry to hear about your pain though...may the force be with you ;)

OOOH cheek jokes are so out of line right now--- GRRR!
You are lucky that I am in pain- If not I would certainly give you a stern talkin to! ( just kidding )

Cheekie - don't pre-stress too much; everyone's experiences are as different as can be.

I had all four of mine out in one sitting; the top two almost fell out, but the bottom two...didn't... :whistling: Let's just say that a shot of demerol and some serious pain meds made the whole experience not as bad as you'd think. Post op care is really important; warm water rinses and believe it or not, warm tea (no sugar) to drink really helped a bunch. You'll do fine....but, of course, do what your dentist says to do. It matters a lot.

Past issues aside, I do hope it goes well and you bounce back quickly.

Regards - B.B.S.

I know the pain. When I first came in the service I had 6 teeth pulled...3 wisdom teeth that were underneath my other wisdom teeth. That was no fun.

I feel for you Cheeky. Like emo, I've had both a knee surgery and 4 impacted wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. I was out for the surgery and awake for the extraction. I had my acl replaced with part of my patella tendon, mcl repaired using sutures and a screw, and then finally cartilage replacement that the good doctor did by drilling holes in my bone. 2 weeks later, I had my wisdom teeth taken out (two neede a little sledge to be broken apart). Compared to the knee surgery, the extractions were a breeze...until 4 hours later...when I wanted to take a sledge hammer to my jaw to put me out of my misery. My suggestion, start taking the vicodin before the local anasthetics wear out. Remember, dentists are evil, so eat lots of garlic the night before and have a morning cigar before you see him. No reason for you to be the only one suffering.
