Hi guys,

I collect lighters, and smoke the odd pipe, and I recently acquired a new lighter. It's got a fairly old mechanism, similar to this one (though not the actual lighter pictured)

Underneath the "button" is a spring that applies resistance when lighting so you can create a proper spark, which, while servicing the lighter, (trying to put it back together) the spring and button shot out. I found the button, but, the spring now belongs to the briney deep that is my messy bedroom.

Any ideas where I can get a new spring? I'm not sure our local tobacconists sell this kind of thing, as they don't really sell these types of lighters anymore (much to my dissapointment).

Hopeful for any help thanks :)

Goto 7/11 and take apart a lighter. Otherwise, some places that sell parts for Ronson or Zippo lighters may have replacement springs. Otherwise, if you are in a big city, perhaps a shop that repairs high end clocks/watches (?) may let you peruse their springs and sell you one.

Maybe You can crack open a Disposable lighter, they also use springs to press the flint up, also zippos do the same but use a longer, slimmer spring.
Best I can think of!

Do you think a regular "throwaway" gas lighter spring would do the trick?

Bear in mind I'm in Australia. Things aren't as readily available as in other countries. I'll try the local tobacconist, see if they've got anything similar.

Lots of those on line places that sell parts ship FedX....shipping to you shouldn't be an issue....

From hitting those links, it seems there are a fair number of folks like yourself that collect these lighters. If your local efforts fail, it sure looks like you could get the part shipped to you.

Yeah, that might be the only other option.

Thanks guys. I emailed Ronson to see if I could get a spring anywhere in Aus. I don't hold TOO much hope, but, we'll see.

What's smoking the "odd pipe"? Dang hippies...

lol :) It's only odd in terms of it's regularity. I have one once every blue moon.

Wouldn't it be easier to just clean your room and find the spring?
