Locking Threads

In the past, I was able to lock a thread that I created. From time to time, I would do this to keep old threads from being reopened. From time to time we get trolls who dig up old dead threads and top them with 2-3 word posts. So I figured I was doing my part closing threads of my own that had run their course. Will this self-moderation ever be an option again?
